I don’t usually write reviews like this, but when something touches your spirit and your taste buds, you gotta speak on it. Shipley Do-Nuts in Concord, NC is not just a donut shop—it’s a whole experience. From the moment I walked in, I thought I was just grabbing a quick treat… but nah, this spot flipped my whole mood, whole vibe, whole perspective.
The atmosphere? Warm. The service? Immaculate. And the crew? Straight family vibes. Special shoutout to the queen Alnesha—she don’t just take your order, she lifts your whole day. Sis had me out here feeling like royalty on a random morning. That’s the energy they serve alongside these melt-in-your-mouth creations.
Let’s get this clear: Shipley is not one of them cookie-cutter, mass-produced, factory-fried chains. This is that real, that “made from scratch, poured with soul” kinda spot. Founded back in 1936 in Houston, Texas, Shipley Do-Nuts has been blessing communities for almost 90 years. They been keeping it classic, keeping it consistent, and keeping it quality—generation after generation. When they say “Do-Nuts Worth the Drive,” they mean every word.
Now let’s talk eats. If you looking for that “just died and went to donut heaven” feeling, grab: • Hot Glazed Original – Light, airy, sweet but not overpowering. Pure joy. • Apple Fritter – Thick, golden, crispy-edged perfection. The kind you break in half and immediately regret sharing. • Kolaches (sausage & cheese) – Don’t sleep. Savory, warm, and the best way to start any morning. • Cinnamon Sugar Do-Nuts – Taste like love and Sunday mornings. • Chocolate-filled, Iced, or Sprinkled – For the kids or your inner child. • Maple Bacon Bar – Yes, it’s a donut with bacon. And yes, it slaps hard.
Now if you watching your sugar or got diabetes, don’t worry—they got you too. You can grab: • Plain Cake Do-Nut – Lower sugar, still fire. • Sausage & Cheese Kolaches (no glaze) – Protein-packed and filling without the sugar spike. • Fresh Brewed Coffee or Sugar-Free Options – Skip the sugar, keep the comfort.
What makes Shipley in Concord different is the feeling. They ain’t just serving donuts—they serving up love, community, and consistency. This is the kind of place you tell your friends about. This is where you go when you need that “everything’s gon’ be alright” moment with a hot coffee and a warm pastry in your hand.
So if you tired of basic, soulless drive-thru donut disappointments, come see what real tastes like. Shipley Do-Nuts Concord ain’t going nowhere, and you shouldn’t either—until you try what they cookin’.
Support them, love on them, and bring your people through. Trust me—this place?...
Read moreWas so excited when I saw Shipley's arrive in Concord. I lived in Texas years ago and always enjoyed this place. Unfortunately, the two times I've been here were not that great. I went through the drive-thru my first trip and ordered my kids some donuts. Passed them back and a second later my 3 year old said "Daddy, the donuts are hard." Sure enough, these ones seemed to have been days old. Not good at all.
Our next trip there, I decided to go inside. I asked the cashier to please pick the fresher donuts if they could. And they said they would. I asked for some Kolaches and they said they didn't have any. Also, their drink machine wasn't working to make their specialty coffee drinks. Very disappointing. And made it worse was going home with the donuts only to find them as hard as they were on our first visit.
It's sad this place is only weeks old and encountering these types of issues already. Hope they work out the kinks and get it...
Read moreAfter seeing all the hype around this place, I was excited to try the famous Shipley's donuts. Unfortunatrly, I was not impressed at all. The cashier taking our order was rude and ignored us whenever we tried asking questions about the menu items. When we got the order, the donuts were cold and dry. My donut holes were like biting into a wad of paper towels, no flavor, cold to the touch and insanely dry. The Kolache with cheese was very disappointing as it was what I was mostly looking forward to. In hindsight, a gas station roller dog from QuikTrip could put it to shame. The taste, or lack thereof, was bland and oddly spicy despite me saying I didn't want the one with jalepenos. We also asked for a donut with chocolate glaze and were instead given a plain glazed chocolate donut. Everyone else with me complained that their donuts were bland and dry as well. Looks like we'll be sticking with The...
