I had been here many times before, always with great food and service. After brunch today we won't be returning.
We were a large party of 9, and arrived a little after opening. The restaurant wasn't very busy yet, and the hostess and our server, Ashley, got us some tables together quickly.
Everything started off well. Our drink orders were taken and served promptly, and Ashley took our meal orders. We then waited for over an hour for our meals.
During this time, we were checked on once and our drinks were freshened up. Eventually I had to ask what was taking our food so long. Other parties had arrived, ordered, finished their meals and left. We received an apology and our food was checked on. 10 or so minutes later they offered to bring some food out and deliver the rest as it was ready. We were all hungry and said that was fine.
Our server didn't come check on us after that. The hostess came to clear some dishes and ask how everything was. As we were finishing up, I asked for the check and for one to-go box as Ashley was passing by.
They tacked a 20% service charge on. I wasn't happy to pay that given the long wait time. When I asked about it I was told the charge is applied automatically on large parties. Ashley didn't try to do anything, like comp our soft drinks/coffees.
Once she returned with our receipts she said she had hoped we would try them again, and I replied with "I don't think so." She commented "I'm sorry. Next time we won't try to be so accommodating." Such an unnecessary comment, which served to make an already bad experience all the more frustrating.
I recommended Street to many friends and family as a great place to try something unique in Concord. I won't be anymore.
Previous review: Wonderful food and service. Hands down the best...
Read moreThis place definitely is niche and not for everyone. Some good twists on some classics like the sausage gravy and biscuits with fried chicken. I was not expecting a bowl of gravy. But in that bowl of gravy was a decent sized biscuit, a slice of hashbrown pie (at least that's what I'm calling it) an egg and a decent sized piece of fried chicken. Over all, pretty good. Gravy was a little heavy on something that was overpowering but over all I DID enjoy it. I also got a side of the ham steak which was also really good. Now for the not so good. Service was okay. We saw our server twice. Once to take our order and once to clean the table and give the bill. Didn't even know their name until the check came. There were a couple of hairs IN the pancake my girlfriend got (and I mean IN it, not on it) but the waiter, Brian B saw them and took the pancake off the bill, and the water tasted like it came straight out of a NYC tap. 2 top tables were uncomfortably small for 2 people, might be best for 1. That last one might juat be a personal gripe and less of an issue to other people. There were a couple of people around us that got the curry fries and they looked and smelled fantastic. Probably should have gotten those instead of the pancake. Overall an Okay place with a good vibe for concord, just not my Forte and probably will not...
Read moreYou are better off eating at literally ANY of the other restaurants within a block of here. A neat idea with absolutely horrible execution. As someone who has traveled to half the countries that these people are claiming to make food from....I can tell you that their cooks have NEVER had the real version of anything on their menu.
They charge you for every dish and then extra of you want the meat that is actually supposed to come in the dish. They then serve you half sized drinks making sure that you never have what you need to wash the bad food out of your mouth.
We had the pazole....being that I have good friends from Mexico here legally and having visited multiple regions of Mexico personally, this is not pazole.
The curry fries consist of over-salty fries slathered in mayo that has a ton of raw uncooked curry powder in it. They were pretty much inedible, and after politely explaining this to the server....they were left on the check having barely touched them.
Skip this place and go to some of the good ethnic communities around Boston and get the real versions of the fake stuff they sell here. Better yet, save your money and travel and experience them in their native environments....either way skip the nastiness these folks...
