There's a lot to be said about this restaurant, and the experience I had during my meal. If I had the option, I wouldn't give this review any stars and simply say, "Never Eat Here."
The restaurant seemed very promising upon arriving. The exterior of the building has a very nice family-run feeling to it. It reminded me of stopping at a small diner on the highway after a long drive. As much as this restaurant tries to be a classic American diner, it is far from that. Most of the menu has Mediterranean food, which is fine, but not when it takes up more then half the menu.
Another issue I had was the service. It was lackluster to say the least, but that would be a compliment. One example would be when I ordered my drink. I asked for water with lemon. I was sitting at the bar, right in front of the drink station. The waiter turned around, poured my water, but did not put a lemon in it. I could say it was a slip of the mind, the waiter may have been having a bad day or a busy one, but there is no excuse when the drink station is literally right behind you.
This brings me to my next issue. The food was not that great. I ordered the "Classic Cheeseburger." According to the menu, the customer can choose what type of cheese he or she wants to put on the burger. When you see something like that on the menu, it is normally customary for the waiter to ask the customer what kind of cheese they want. Lets just say my waiter did not do that. I had ordered my burger well done, but to my surprise, it was not. Not to mention the fact that the lettuce was brown, and the tomato was slightly green in the middle.
Now, I'm not too familiar with tomato's, but I know for a fact that they should not be green. To my surprise the french fries were actually pretty decent. Not as good as Five Guys, but they were good. So, I had my food, ready to eat. I put the rotten vegetables to the side, and grabbed the ketchup. I tried to pour, but nothing came out. It was completely empty. I had to go to three different tables before I could find a slightly filled ketchup container, just enough to pour on my burger and fries.
I ate my meal and was ready for dessert. I ordered the apple pie with ice cream. They were out of the apple pie. A classic American diner, out of apple pie. I was genuinely shocked at this point. It is the restaurants responsibility to have the proper ingredients and food items fully stocked every day. It's not like I walked in an hour before closing, so there is no excuse for this issue either.
I thanked the waiter for telling me, and asked for the check. You wouldn't believe it, he gave us the wrong check. We informed the waiter, he apologized, and fixed it for us. But like I've been saying, there is no excuse for issues like this, especially in a restaurant.
This is what I call poor customer service. Customer service is extremely important in a business, especially if you're dealing with a first-time customer. There is no excuse for poor customer service. Period. I could've gone to the county fair and had a better experience. When you see a restaurant like this, it means they don't care about the customer, they don't care about their business, and they don't care about themselves.
A person that runs a business like this has no self-respect. You should be proud to run this restaurant, but it doesn't show in the service or the food. I could've had a better meal at McDonalds. That's really sad when someone says something like that. If the manager is reading this, I really do hope you take this review seriously. There is no excuse at all for what happened, especially with the rotten vegetables.
I will never set foot back in this restaurant for as long as I live. You may think this is an overreaction, but from a business standpoint, it is not. As a consumer in a capitalist society, it is my responsibility to write this review and never give another cent to this business. A consumer chooses if a business is successful or not. Just...
Read moreHonestly; I just want this place cleaned up so we can enjoy the decent local diner again. On multiple occasions, my husband and and I have had the displeasure of dealing with one specific server (Andrea) who is extremely rude and dismissive. The first time, my husband ordered a chili without cheese (he has a dairy allergy) and cheese was placed on the chili. When we told the server (everything, including the allergy), she took the chili back to the kitchen and brought it back with the cheese scooped off (there was a chunk of cheese still hanging off the edge). When I called her out on this, she said “fine, I guess we have time to make it again” and harshly grabbed the chili off the table. I asked her to write ‘no cheese’ on the ticket and she said “no. I’ll remember. I talk to the kitchen all the time”. After a brief argument (?) she agreed and was then heard loudly talking badly about us to other staff.
We decided to give them another chance. On the next instance, she forcibly charged our card a gratuity of 18%, which, at this establishment is reserved for parties of six or more (it was just my husband and myself). We planned to tip but not that much (as she was rude during this instance as well), so my husband asked her to take the gratuity off. She literally responded “no. You have to tip”. No we don’t? We asked for the manager and she again said “no!” A gentleman came and took the ticket from her and took it off. We tipped 10% even though it should’ve been nothing at this point. We asked for the owner/manager and were given his number. He was very kind and offered us dinner at another restaurant he owns, which was great. We decided to give them another chance.
During subsequent visits, there has been almost no service. No refills, we seat ourselves, we even get our own boxes…. The service is just so bad because of one poor server. It’s awful how much one bad employee can impact a business, but it’s also unacceptable to excuse their behavior over and over the way this establishment does. They will not receive another cent from us until this...
Read moreI honestly love this place but my last experience will be my last. As a veteran bartender, restaurant manager, and career waitress I normally am the most understanding of all guests. Sadly I was more than disappointed I was complete insulted by the staff. Normally my husband and I go in one to two times a month right when they open the doors on Fridays and have a great breakfast it is amazing food and good service. Last time we went to see them I brought company. Our kids, my brother, and his kids. It took over 30 minutes to just get drinks. Hey I get it. It was busy and it's hard to find staff right now. Whatever. Finally get drinks and an order in with our server who is so busy we barely get drinks and the food comes. Fine no issue, it's busy. Food is ok but not up to normal standards, and we finish up eating while my neices sip on the rest of their hot tea and the kids finish eating a waitress comes over and asks if I'm done or if we're done. I say yes thinking she wants to start clearing the table. No biggie I get it, faster turn over but what she said next was good "good we have a party of 10 waiting for your table of you could finish up." Are you SERIOUS?! You're telling me to get out due to you a party waiting when we aren't even done?! Then I look the waitress added 18% gratuity to our check never said a word and we had added 20% which she didn't earn we gifted in understanding. My husband asked her to give him his receipt please and she argued with him! Never. NEVER as a waitress or manager have ever told ever the WORST of guests to get out or added a tip I did not tell them about. I guess it is not worth going there because this is how customers are treated. It's sad this restaurant had to work hard to get a good reputation and now they are letting two servers flush it down the toilet. My husband and I are telling everyone we know to avoid this restaurant, I cannot...
