My boyfriend took me to Maggiano's yesterday evening for my birthday! I've had a birthday dinner at Maggiano's for the past 5 years. Its one of my favorite restaurants! We always got so much food for a great price! Well we haven't been since my last birthday, and the menu pricing has changed drastically, so drastically that we can't go back.
The Marco's Meal for Two is no longer an option. I know that sounds like such a small gripe, but we can't afford it now. The cheapest pasta is $26. Next cheapest entree $30. Most of the appetizers are anywhere from $15-$20. I was asked "soup or salad?" Assuming it came with the meal, considering most restaurants do that. $10! $10 for a basic salad that I didn't even know we were paying for! A dinner for 2 ended up costing us over $100 (w/tip) when it used to cost no more than $70, that's with a cocktail or 2 (w/tip). The Marco's Meal had an appetizer, 2 entrees, and a dessert. We only ordered 2 entrees, salad (I thought was free), and a dessert. On top of that It was so extremely loud that we could hardly hear anything. I really hated the atmosphere! It was just loud and ugly. Which to be fair it always has been, but I can deal with loud and ugly when the meal isn't $100... I understand that it's financially tough for the business right now, but I would have preferred a price increase on the Marco's Meal for 2 rather than cutting it all together.
I will say the food is much better than before (it wasn't bad before though). The table bread was just amazing! Our waitress was phenomenal and always on top of things! It was a decent experience overall, however with that drastic difference in pricing, all those amazing things the restaurant is standardizing now just isn't worth it. We don't get to have dinner outings that much because of financial difficulties, and Maggiano's was one of our go-to's. It's really disappointing that Maggiano's cooperation values a higher paying client base over its loyal client base that always made room in the budget. It just sucks that my birthday dinner, the one day a year I get to enjoy a bit frivolously, just turned into a financially stressful evening. And at my favorite restaurant too! We did try our best to still enjoy the evening, but I'm genuinely really sad! Again food and service was amazing! Can't justify the...
Read moreI had my baby shower here in the DiCarlo room, party of 20. We had 1 elderly server for the room which definitely wasn't enough, because I had to literally go out of my way to continually ask him for drinks for my guests and refills. The coffee pots were empty, when coffee was to be included. The price quoted was not the price we had to pay at the end, it was significantly more and without reason. The appetizer and entree food was pretty good and I planned on taking home all the leftovers for myself and my children who did not attend the shower, considering the hefty price of the party. The server gave all my guests to go boxes and bags and the guests took everything, me as the guest of honor took home no food and barely got to consume any at the party due to being busy hosting. The server should have boxed up all leftover food and set aside for me to take home afterward. As a pregnant woman I was devastated that I ended up with none of the food and my guests made out like bandits. The dessert was not good at all, I do not recommend the chocolate cake especially. We also were expected to share one piece of cake per table, which is ridiculous when my table alone had 9 people. The family style serve yourself type meal also was not a good idea, there was hardly any room on the table for the dishes to be passed around to everyone and it was extremely diffecult. Plates should be served individually at a party of this cost (and yes we absolutely tipped the server 20% regardless of this, which is hundreds of dollars). There were 3 tables of 8 which was not a good seating arrangement, should have been one large rectangle table so everyone could enjoy the company of the guest of honor. One table only had a few people due to everyone wanting to sit close to the guest of honor, not tables away. Room was tiny, not big enough for games, quality photos, or gifts. My baby shower was booked for 3 hours and after 2.5 hours we were already being rushed to clean up and get out, although there was no one booked in that room afterward. Staff is rude and unhelpful, table service is terrible. I absolutely do not recommend having your baby shower here if you want to spend time with your guests and...
