No bueno. Loved the Local that was in the space prior to Leone's. I must preface my review with stating I have lived in Brooklyn, NY for many years, in a predominantly Italian neighborhood, and my mother was raised by Italian nonna's , Arthur Avenue, Bronx NY, so I am accustomed to excellent Italian good. This place is not it by a long shot. First off, the front of house service was not good. I stood in line and waited for the couple in front of me to order. It took them a good five minutes with all the choices, and then the woman taking the order, asked if they were first responders, nurses, doctors etc.. for a discount. She took their order and then walked into the kitchen, although she saw a line of customers waiting to order. She then proceeded to have conversations with the staff, drinking ice coffee all the while ignoring the line of customers. I never have experienced such service, or lack there of. She came back to take orders and didn't apologize nor ask me if I was a first responder etc.. as she did the customers in front of me. Simply bizarre. The food was not good - bread was blah, French fries, which I rarely eat, but came with what I ordered, were limp and greasy. My sandwich, meatball parmigiana, had little to no sauce, or cheese and the meatballs were so salty and were overloaded with spice that was so overpowering. I left half the meal there. I will say the layout for dining in is much better than how the Local had it set up but that's where it stops. Not going back and I must have drank 30 ounces of water upon leaving from the...
Read moreIf you look at the 2 star review from Kimberly before me, she complained that her food took forever. Unfortunately for her, I was there to witness it all. She failed to mention that they called out her name “Kim” 100 times and when she was disrespectful to the workers, they said “We called out Kim multiple times.” Her response was “My name isn’t Kim, it’s Kimberly.” LOL! She was just looking to be a pain and she also failed to mention this place gave her a full refund along with her food!!! I have been going here since they opened and it is the best sandwich to ever touch my tastebuds. Not to mention they are the kindest staff and if you talk to them with respect you will get to know they are friendly and care about all of their customers. I don’t usually do reviews but I knew “Kim” would leave a nasty one after seeing how she behaved in the store. I won’t allow this. Leone’s is amazing and nothing compares. I will continue to eat here and recommend to all my loved ones. Best sandwiches ever. 5 STARS. I hope you...
Read more2 times I’ve eaten here. The first time it was a Nashville style hot chicken sandwich: dry, burnt chicken, burnt bun, fries were overdone. Today, 11/1/2024 I once again tried eating here, this time figuring I’d be safer with a double decker burger: I was not. The burger patties are frozen, they were dry. Luckily the bun wasn’t burnt this time, not even toasted. Fries were once again overdone and unappetizing. I already had a stigma for this place, mainly due to their desire to use Boars head meat during a recall period, but this is ridiculous. I can understand the food being rushed during a new opening, but y’all have been open long enough to have worked out the kinks. For a place that’s supposed to be from up north, where sandwiches are supposed to be king, this restaurant has flopped in my eyes. I will try one last time, this time trying what should be a specialty: one of their deli sandwiches, but I’m not holding my breath. The Local was better in every sense, and Don’s Deli really blows this place...
