McAlister's Deli — Restaurant in Cookeville

Will not be back. My wife and I have been to Mcalisters in multiple cities and have always had a good experience. Went to the one in Cookeville tonight and was very disappointed. It took over 45 minutes to get our food. After a half hour, a staff member came over to inform us that they did not have Mac and cheese for our son. We selected the chicken fingers. They said it would be right out, but turned out being 15 minutes later. We could hear the staff across the restaurant arguing in the back and being overwhelmed. Once we got our food, my son’ chicken was some of the worst chicken tenders I’ve ever had out. They tasted completely microwaved and fake. With his meal was supposed to come with cookies. What we received was a piece of a cookie torn off of a big one. My wife asked “did someone eat half the cookie?” To the servers response of “oh we don’t do that here. We broke it off of another cookie since we ran out of the ones for the meal.” The rest of our meals were mediocre at best. It was a very disappointing experience since we usually love Mcalisters. I placed an order yesterday for 11 lunches to be delivered today to my office for a corporate lunch at 11:30. I called this morning around 9:30 and spoke to Miranda to make a minor change, which she did with no problem. Imagine my surprise at 10:50 when I received an email that my order had been canceled?! I immediately called back and spoke to Miranda, who was extremely kind and helpful. She explained to me that a 3rd party does their deliveries and they must have canceled it and instructed me to redo the order and if it didn't work to call her back and let her know. After placing the order, I realized in my moment of panic, I left 1 meal off. I called yet again and Miranda was gracious enough to fix my screw up. She was wonderful and helped in a situation where so many others would have had the "that's doordash, not us, sorry!" attitude. She never got impatient with my multiple calls and was the picture of great customer service. I wanted to make sure her management knows how much a customer appreciated her...

This will be my last time here. The gentleman that took our order was wonderful & very professional. There was a short woman/girl in the kitchen giving my family such awful looks like we were bothering her & she'd have to work. We ordered toasted sandwiches. Mine definitely wasn't, the side of Mac & cheese was like a tablespoon & a half. Taste like instant. Definitely not the same as when they 1st opened. The food was subpar, no pepper shakers on half the tables, no napkins, in fact the napkin holder was so filthy. I got some from another table & noticed that it didn't look like anything had been cleaned in a while. I'm guessing it's under new management that is not worried about customer service. If it was towards closing I might understand why the place was like this it was lunch time. Also toilet paper wasn't in the container, no soap in the one dispenser. Sad just sad.
