Fresh, hearty and crazy good. Stopped at this place on a whim during a day trip to one of our favorite spots; Coronado Island. It had good reviews and was about to open so we headed that way. Staff was nice and helpful and the menu was pretty simple for a newcomer. They offer different seafood-based rolls and smaller "junior" slider rolls for those wanting smaller portions and sampler plates as well as soups, salads and a lobster grilled cheese we weren't brave enough to try. I wanted to try as much as possible with out breaking the bank, so we both ended up ordering the junior rolls with multiple options. I also grabbed a soup flight that had sample portions of the Maryland Crab Soup, Clam Chowder and the Lobster Bisque. Didn't take long to get our food, so we grabbed our eats and headed a few blocks over to park and eat on Coronado Beach. First off, this stuff is fresh and the seafood will prove that to you right away. The Lobster roll was filled with meat and had such good flavor! The Crab and Shrimp Rolls didn't disappoint either and we're so fresh and tasty! We couldn't believe at how delicious the seafood was and the roll itself really did a lot of the heavy lifting; tasting almost like a doughnut as you first bite into it cristo and buttery exterior. The shrimp was seasoned with killer spices and when you squeeze a little fresh lemon on it you get taken away. After trying the rolls it was time to dig into the soups. You actually get a decent amount of soup for a flight and I started with the Crab Soup. It was fresh, had lots of vegetables and crab in it and tasted similar to a fresh veggie soup with seafood instead of ground beef. Really good. Next up I tried the Clam Chowder. To be honest, I have never had a Clam Chowder in my life that I really liked, so I wasn't expecting much. It blew me away! Tasted like a really savory potato soup with clams and it was outstanding! Even though I was looking forward to the Lobster Bisque the most and I had saved it for last, it was the most disappointing. It wasn't bad, but couldn't tell there was any lobster in it and it was more sweet and had a pecan flavor to it than anything. Also, very heavy on the cream due to a lack of any other real flavor. It was my least favorite. Being able to enjoy this delicious food right on the beach likely helped, but it was pretty pricey. If the prices were a little more reasonable I would say this is an easy 5 stars for sure. If your looking for really fresh seafood, more specifically seafood rolls and soups because the menu is pretty small, this the place for you. We really enjoyed our meal on the beach and will definitely return to go big with the Lobster and Shrimp Rolls with some...

Lobster West in Coronado is a gem for seafood lovers, especially those craving authentic, East Coast-style lobster rolls. Located in the heart of Coronado, this small, casual eatery offers a laid-back, beachy vibe perfect for both tourists and locals looking for a quick yet delicious meal.
The Food The menu is straightforward, focusing on what they do best—lobster, crab, and shrimp rolls. The star of the show is the lobster roll, which is served with generous portions of fresh, sweet Maine lobster meat. You can choose from three different styles: the traditional Maine roll, served cold with a touch of mayo; the Connecticut roll, served warm with melted butter; or the third option, which offers a little spice with a hint of jalapeño. The lobster is incredibly tender, and the rolls are perfectly toasted, offering a nice crunch that complements the soft, flavorful filling.
If lobster isn’t your first choice, their crab and shrimp rolls are equally impressive, filled with large chunks of fresh seafood. The simplicity of the rolls, paired with high-quality ingredients, makes each bite a treat. For sides, the clam chowder is creamy and flavorful, and the coleslaw is crisp and refreshing, providing a nice contrast to the rich seafood.
Portions and Pricing While the portions aren’t huge, they are satisfying for what they are—a gourmet treat rather than a heavy meal. The prices reflect the high-quality, fresh seafood, and while it’s not a budget meal, it’s fairly priced for the quality you’re getting. For seafood aficionados, the cost is well worth it for the authentic taste of Maine brought to the West Coast.
Atmosphere and Service Lobster West has a cozy, casual atmosphere with a welcoming staff that makes you feel right at home. There’s limited seating indoors, but the outdoor patio offers a relaxed setting where you can enjoy the sunny Coronado weather. It’s an excellent spot for a quick lunch or a low-key dinner after a day at the beach.
The service is quick and friendly, with staff always ready to explain menu options or offer recommendations. They take pride in sourcing sustainable seafood, which is a big plus for those who care about where their food comes from.
Final Thoughts Lobster West is a must-visit for anyone in Coronado looking for high-quality seafood with an East Coast flair. Whether you’re a lobster roll purist or just looking to enjoy fresh seafood in a casual, welcoming environment, Lobster West delivers. It’s a great place for a quick bite that doesn’t compromise on flavor or quality. Perfect for a beach day lunch or a casual dinner, this spot is a little slice of Maine in...
Read moreParking: We had stopped by at 645 on a Wednesday and there were a few open street parking Ambience: calm and mellow in the evening Service: The service was welcoming. They served us partial of our order and 5 mins in I thought they forgot the crab cakes but the server came up to us to let Under Armour know they didn’t forget and it was coming out shortly Food: I ordered the Flight to try out all three soups. The clam chowder was the best of them while the others had canned vegetables that weren’t too appealing. Also got the basis crab and lobster roll. I’m a carnivore and thought that was a fair amount of meat given there were options for more meat. The crab cake was average, definitely not worth the price for it.
