Jin's Chow Mein — Restaurant in Crystal

I used to get take out here years ago when I lived in the area. Decided to stop in as I remembered it was good. Was greeted warmly. I had some questions about ingredients and the young man was more than willing to look up ingredient labels for me to verify. Quite accommodating. We ordered pork fried rice, Curry beef and barbecue pork appetizer. The curry beef was excellent, quite delicious. I'm already planning a return trip for more in the future. The barbecue pork appetizer was not quite like I remember it. I remember caramelized pieces of barbecue pork. This was barbecue pork in a sauce. It was good, just not as good as I remember it. The pork fried rice contained pieces of pork that were closer. Prices are excellent. No price gouging here. My total was under $20. On their website it says "THE FINEST CHOW MEIN IN CRYSTAL SINCE 1958". Well, I would call it the absolute worst chow mein I ever tried. Placed an order for two chow mein dishes over the phone. Came to store and said the price is $11 and something instead of $7. Pointed cashier to their prices on the menu above her and she immediately apologized and corrected the price. They don't take credit cards, cash only. That makes me think they avoid paying taxes this way. No receipt is given either. Take a look at my photo: chow mein looks like barf, it tastes like canned dog food, extremely small amount of chicken that is barely visible, almost no veggies except huge amounts of celery that tastes like jelly, noodles comes in a factory bag... Asian restaurant that has been in the area since the 1950s. They only take cash/check. No credit or debit cards.

First visit: Called for takeout. Was told see you in 10 minutes! Very fast!

Fantastic fried rice. Kids liked orange chicken.

Second visit: Called and picked up food. Again courteous and fast.

Fried rice won the show again. Orange chicken also good again. Got chow mein, it was decent. Unfortunately it was downhill from there. Egg rolls, just like frozen ones. Potstickers had overly dough taste and inside it was bland. Lo mein is also very bland like the forgot some seasoning.. Egg coo young was again almost flavorless like other items. And for the finale... Cream cheese puff that had literally almost no filling.

Maybe I will come back when close by, but I will stick to...
