If you plan on spending money while you're at The AT&T Discovery District, not here at Cowboy Chow... The atmosphere reminded me of a thrift store with old customers and quiet generic music in the background. Live singer inside was great but that's was the only great experience. Sat at the bar and my bartender turned out to be a cashier for the only working bartender who was making drinks and opening cans...oh? The food I was planning on ordering on their menu was the Big Sky Combos and for a Friday Night, they 86'd the whole section leaving me disappointed. I instead ordered the New Mexico Queso and the Texas Cowboy Chili to be let down on small menu items. The Queso looked nice but I asked for only chips and not chicharrones but I got both. The Queso had no seasoning and tasted like cheese cups you would get with your chips at the gas station and the chicharrones we're that too, stale and very salty. The chips in the photo were sitting in cold oil so that means that I got the bottom of the container or they weren't drained properly and they too were salty. The Texas Chili wasn't better, where I expected a "Texas Chili" to be served in a bowl with a nice side of cornbread; instead, I got was a coffee cup of chili with school eraser size piece of cornbread. I think when it's called a Texas Chili, it's also supposed to contain brisket but all I got as a small chunk of meat and honestly, I felt like I was eating not but Taco Bell meat in a cup. And to finish it all off, it tasted of dish soap. Finally the Cocktail of choice was a Prickly Pear Gimlet and Christ-All-Mighty did it disappoint. I was expecting like a crisper flavor but all it was just prickly pear mixer you just buy at the store, generic. Don't expect quick service, it was only 4 tables inside and they have already ordered so when I thought queso was going to be quick, it took 15 mins for it. Cheese and chips should only take 3 mins tops, chili maybe the same, maybe 5 minutes; to toast cornbread My biggest complaint in the end of it all was management or the manger working 11/17/23 Friday night was doing laps around the restaurant, not paying attention to the guest but rather the employees. It brought back memories of when you had a mean teacher in school who would yell at you to pay attention or do your work. It did not sit with me at all. A "homeless" person walked in and I recognized him and he's not really homeless but he does travel often. He tried to buy a soda at the bar but they refused, c'mon man, it's dead and he's genuinely not trying to beg and he has money. So they told him that it's only drinks at the bar and he ordered a light beer (Corona) drank it, paid and left the restaurant. Then manager ran up to the bar and repeatedly asked if he paid with the money right next to her on the bar. This left a foul taste and I had to leave and I tipped the singer and went. I wouldn't leave a review like this about food, I would just not come back but I had to for the employees being micromanaged, unattended guest, and showing no compassion, aren't cowboys...

If I could give Cowboy Chow zero stars, I would. My family and I had an incredibly disappointing and blatantly discriminatory experience here on Saturday, March 1, at 6:30 PM.
Upon arrival, the restaurant was fairly empty. I asked for a table for five, only to be told by the two hostesses that they were not taking walk-ins and that all available tables were reserved. Meanwhile, my daughter’s cheer teammates—an all-white group of approx eight—had just been seated outside without a reservation. I then asked if I could make a reservation online and was told they wouldn’t be accepting reservations until Monday.
Frustrated but still wanting to my daughter to spend time with her teammates after the traumatic experience they had endured at the Dallas Convention Center for NCA the Cheer comp, I decided to order takeout and eat in courtyard. After waiting 25 minutes, I returned to pick up my order and saw two white women walk in. The hostess immediately greeted them, asked how many were in their party (two), and proceeded to offer them a choice: sit inside or outside. These women had no reservation, yet they were seated without hesitation—the very thing I was told was not possible just minutes earlier. When I questioned the hostess, I was met with a weak excuse: “Oh, the kitchen is open now, so we are taking walk-ins.”
This is completely unacceptable. The kitchen was clearly open when I placed my takeout order online. The only difference between me and those who were seated? I am a Black woman.
Cowboy Chow, do better. Discrimination in any form is disgusting, but the blatant double standard in how I was treated compared to white customers makes it clear that this establishment does not value Black patrons. I will never return, and I encourage others to reconsider supporting a business that treats people differently based on the color...
Read moreI really only walked in because my little one had to potty and The Exchange was closed for a private event. When I walked up a very sweet lady greeted us very politely and welcomed us, I apologized and asked if my child could use the facilities to which she didn't protest, make a face, but pointed us in the direction of the RR. The hostess was also sweet and polite, & I was craving something sweet so I thought I might pick up a sweet treat to go. This place isn't something in my price range and frankly, we were dressed notably poorly. Shockingly we weren't treated any different for it and the bar tender that took my dessert order too, was just as polite as the lady and hostess at the front. The disappointment was the dessert. I opted for the tres leches cake which was supposed to come with berries and cream and didn't, it was also on the small side aaannd completely dry. Which after taxes came out to $8.40. I'm not expecting gold flakes lol but for costing almost $10 AND being small, it'd better be delicious. And it wasn't, it was basically a small piece of pound cake. I didn't want to be that person but I went back and asked if I could get either a refund or a different option. I think they don't do refunds which is fine, the manager suggested a different dessert which I opted for the mousse which was also a little small but not as much as the pound cake, and also was in the shape of Texas which I thought was cute and had a cup of berry sauce, and it tasted much better so I was more satisfied and appreciated not being treated less than and their willingness to make it right. I think it's worth a try if you value...
