In a world full of mediocre pastries, it is no small joy to stumble upon a donut shop that understands the fulfillment and pleasure that comes from getting things right. This small, unassuming establishment, a small tabernacle of sugar, offers not merely donuts, but culinary evidence that common grace is still operative in our generation. The donuts? Perfectly shaped, formed with steady hands, care and an eye for symmetry. These are not the half-hearted, slumped-over excuses for fried dough that too often pass for pastries. No, these are as aesthetically sound as they are tasty, and that’s saying something. One of the pink frosted donuts looked like it came straight from a Simpson’s episode. The flavor, especially of the chocolate variety (which is often abused and misused in other shops), was rich, well-balanced, and entirely devoid of that plastic aftertaste that afflicts the chocolate. But, then there’s the matter of timing. We obtained our donuts at 5:30am, and they were still warm. The coffee deserves its own paragraph. It was not poured from some reheated trough of bitterness, nor did it taste like it had been filtering through the resentment of those who lived during the Nixon administration. No. Here, the beans were ground fresh, an act which, to my knowledge, I have not seen at other little donut shops. I watched the grinder spin and thought, “There is hope yet for Western civilization.” As for the cost: for two cups of this sacred brew, one chocolate donut, and a dozen humble-yet-glorious donut holes, the total was a mere $10. A pittance. A tithe to joy.

I got a dozen specialty donuts that I let her pick my donuts and when I got to work I was disappointed that I received 3 plain glazed ones. Was not happy, for the price all the donuts should've been specialty.

A donut shop is more than coffee and a pastry (YEAH, I KNOW - - it's s shock, isn't it???) - - A GOOD Donut Shop has yeast rising donuts; glazed or iced or cake; but most importantly they should GIVE AWAY a free smile!!! I absolutely LOVE Forest Donuts, and we have been going there for years and years. We are always greeted with a smile, and frequently we are given a complimentary donut. It might cost them a few cents, but for the recipient, a FREE donut is meaningful and appreciated. They LOVE kids and again don't be surprised with a freeby.

When you're in a hurry on a weekday and need to grab a quick coffee (they're near the Starbucks across from Medical City Hospital), or if you have a lazy weekend and just want a nice donut, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO!!!! We LOVE...

I believe my African American husband was racially profiled here. Ẁe stopped to get our family donuts. When we pulled up we didn't realize it was 5 minutes until opening time. My husband went to the door and an (Asain man) said, "we don't open until 5am." He said okay we will wait. My husband came back to the car and waited. So, at 5:03am he finally unlocked the door. My husband went in and the same guy proceed to say, " I can't serve you because the cashier isn't here." However, another lady of a different race came in and he served her coffee at the same register he couldn't serve us at. It is absolutely absurd that racial discrimination still exist in 2023. He will NEVER get our business ever again....
