I was actually pretty excited to try this place as they had a nice looking tasting menu, with wine paring, for only $120.00. Unfortunately, as the old saying goes "you get what you pay for." The restaurant itself has a cool vibe and I appreciated the fact that they put together cocktail options using only wine (no liquor license). The Chefs corn chowder with crispy leeks was actually quite good, however, things went south from there.
Tomato Salad: Blah
Tomato Soup with crispy basil: very little flavor and tasted more of a minestrone soup.
Lobster Cake: expected lump lobster meat, came minced. I did like the dill sauce with the greens.
Short Rib with potato: Short rib was very tender and had great flavor. The potatoes were completely inedible due to the MASSIVE amount of salt. Very bad.
Watermelon Intermizzo: was pretty good. Needed more lemon flavor
Halibut dish: the worst dish of all. Halibut is one of my favorite fish dishes, but this was literally like eating a frozen halibut fish stick. It was honestly that bad. The breading was gummy and completely ruined the fish. Gnocchi helped the dish, but was a total crash and burn.
Wagyu Tenderloin: sad, sad day.... cooked well, but tough for "wagyu." VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY salty.
Dessert: palm to face chocolate pudding that tasted like instant pudding and over cooked TINY donut holes. By the time desert arrived I was over the whole experience.
Overall a good concept and what could have been magical, fell flat on...
Read moreFood as delicious and the atmosphere romantic in the old brick building with original wood floors, but the wait staff had no idea what they were doing and was overwhelmed and that made the experience fall flat. Couldn't handle the slightly busy Valentines day crowd. Took 30 mins to even get attention from anyone for anything other than water after being seated for an on-time reservation. Finally got a drink, but once those were empty never got asked by staff if another was wanted. Ordered the tasting menu which was delicious and could tell was well-thought by the chef, but wait staff did a poor job of explaining/delivering each dish, never checked to see if we wanted more drinks, and then accidently started serving us one of the wine pairings midway through the courses which we did not ask for but was then put on the bill anyway. They made it right on the bill, but the wait staff just really needs more training on fine-dining service. Multi-course tasting menu should take time, but not 3 hours of time on a weeknight and should be treated more as a special occasion that it is to order. For the pricing of everything would have...
Read moreThis 100% would be a 5 star review if it was based off of the food. It would be a 1 star review if it was based off of the service. We went in solely because we heard great things about the chef’s tasting menu. The food lived up to the hype. The problem was the service. We were seated in a room where there were 3 servers taking care of 6 tables. The other tables all got stellar service from the other servers. There were two other parties that were seated after us and also doing the tasting menu that were done and paying before we even got course 6. We never got a course 5 but by the time my husband pointed it out (server never realized), he was frustrated and said to not even worry about it. The courses are served in order for a reason. There were 30+ minutes between courses at times. We had to ask for refills on drinks multiple times. I assumed that when courses were skipped and things had obviously not gone well she would send a manager over. That never happened either. The check was for the entire tasting menu. We usually tip at least 20%. Not last night. And we won’t be back because of the service. Quite sad because the food...
