This place has the look of a down to earth and humanly connection type of place but when you meet the staff, you'll wonder if that spirit was ever actually there. I just got coffee there and I can't help but think about how the girl at the counter was so superficial, anti-social and lacking in basic empathy.
So I came in while it was raining and decided to make some chit chat while I waited for my ride. This girl at the register could barely make eye contact (basic respect) and was listening maybe half the time.
I told her I didn't live in the neighborhood and that I was there for a medical checkup (basic diagnostics) and when she asked whether everything is ok, I said I don't know and that we would see. She proceeded to respond in this "that sucks" kind of manner with 0% empathy. You have no clue what I might be going through and your response is "Oh thats scary, stay away" (I have nothing bad going on but imagine if a cancer patient walks into this same place). Then when I'm leaving I say "thanks for the chat and coffee" and the girl makes no eye contact and barely can utter a goodbye. How anti-social are you?
Maybe its because I'm dressed up in a UT sweatshirt and look like some basic fitness bro that this pseudo-hippie decided to judge me. Or maybe its because I just got back from Thailand, the land of some of the friendliest people in the world, that I have low tolerance for miserable spiritless humans who can barely connect. Maybe the culture in the USA is degenerating faster than I anticipated so I'm still caught off guard. That being said, I won't be...
Read moreFirst visit. Order my fiancé coffee, breakfast meal, & hot water in a coffee mug. My coffee mug was stained tremendously, so I refused to drink water from a dirty cup. I simply asked the cash register attendant for a new cup of warm water placed in a paper cup. I had no idea the cashier was actually the Liz Davis (owner). Liz went to pour the water from the dirty cup into the paper cup. I asked Liz for a 2nd time, can I have a fresh warm water in a paper cup. I’ve never seen an owner go back-and-forth with a paying customer. Liz asked me why should she not use the water from the original cup. Since other guest were present in the store, I preferred no commotion. So, I nicely ask for a fresh water again. Liz then goes into this loud outburst of stating that the cup is only stained everything has been sterilized. At the same time Liz mentioned this, as I stare at the cup with marks resembled a tar paved road. Afterwords, Liz finally makes the fresh warm paper cup of water and then slams it down on the counter. So unprofessional and very disrespectful. Then Liz walks towards the back of the store and start telling one of her workers,” I should of charged him for a water cup because he said the coffee cup was dirty.” After overhearing this conversation while they were fixing my breakfast meal, I decided to tell Liz (owner) I would like to donate the meal because I will not accept it. Then me & my fiancé politely exit Murray Street Coffee Shop. I highly do not recommend this coffee shop. My first experience was a rough start...
Read moreOh boy, black ladies, please read: I had been here before actually, but some how lost the address. So when it was recommended today, I was so excited to try it again. Needless to say, I realized quickly why I “forgot” the address.
I walked in, so cold outside btw. And there was a bit of a line and one free table near the heater. So I grabbed the table while I waited on the line to decrease. I happened to be wrapping up a phone call. I stood to place my order when an employee - sat down at a completely different table and no where near my purview- accosts me and asks “do you own headphones”…. Like so embarrassed. My friend on the phone was like whoa and hung up instantly… the older gentleman tried to save himself but the damage was done. I was just like ew, what an annoying customer but whatever. Sis, why did this man then STAND UP to go make my order? He places the thick and not fluffy bagel down in front of me, and says “let me go get the rest of your feast”… like please. Let’s not food shame here. It’s my fault for wanting to try your nasty ass coffee shop in the first place. And the...
