Alright, so I'm not someone who typically leaves reviews, not because I don't want to tell them "Hey, you're food was scrumptious" but because any place that's good already has a billion good reviews so why bother BUUUUT, not only am I leaving this review because this place is just starting out and is still just starting to build up some buzz but also because out of any other restaurant I've been in, this place rates at the top for just being completely floored by the experience. The chefs are incredibly friendly and quick with orders and they put a lot of care into the plating and presentation of each dish, describing each component of the roll/sashimi/etc. The otoro in itself makes it worth the journey, swear to gawd never had anything else like it in my mouth besides things I probably shouldn't discuss on public forums. I've traveled a decent amount for work all over the US and I can confidently say this is the best sushi I've ever experienced and is honestly one of the more modestly priced establishments for what they offer. I recommend just picking rolls from the menu as you go, but definitely check the specials board on your way in where they will have any unique dishes that day. The house sake is pretty standard as far as house sake goes. Highly recommend bringing a date, sushi is great for dates because it doesn't fill you up and you can still move with a spring in your step afterwards and not just feel like lethargically laying in the back of your Uber driver's minivan because you ate too many breadsticks at Olive Garden but still don't regret it. This post is already too long, go to this...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place. The head chef of Naminohana formerly worked at Hatsuyuki and started his new restaurant here in Lower Greenville. While the head chef did not recognize me, I do have pictures of him serving sushi to me and my friends back at Hatsuyuki. A lot of the menu from Hatsuyuki were carried over to Naminohana (I would go as far as to say it's practically the same), so I had really high expectations.
Credit where it's due, flavor and quality-wise, it's very similar to Hatsuyuki. Exception is the miso, as it was very plain. However, the sizes of the sushi are evidently smaller. The rice of the sushi was barely a bite size, and the sushi cuts were thin. Some of the cuts were even cut improperly and were falling apart. I ordered plenty because I had high expectations, but after I finished through all of my orders, I did not feel full. I can't say for other chefs, but the chef I had was very slow with his service. While I consider myself a patient person who enjoys taking time eating his food, I did nod off a few times while waiting for my next sushi piece or roll.
Overall, I was left disappointed and can't convince myself to try this place again anytime soon. While Naminohana is more convenient location-wise, I would much prefer to wait in line for 2 hours at Hatsuyuki over at Fort-Worth. Hopefully, this place will improve and try to be more unique because it is very hard to NOT compare it...
Read moreToday was our first time here! They’re under construction outside so look for the restaurant at the end corner. We came for lunch on a Wednesday early afternoon with no wait time. The interior decor is very minimal with dim lighting for an evening dining experience. Nick was our server, he was very knowledgeable about the sushi selections while providing excellent service which made our dining experience all the better. Chef Kim owner & operator, prepared our sushi for us today. He was very meticulous in preparing each individual piece. He remembers my bf and I from our prior dining experiences from another sushi restaurant, which was very kind of him to remember. The sushi was very fresh, and they had plenty of options ranging from different variations of tuna, uni, and other seasonal fishes. They also have specialty dishes and a good selection of beers and sake to choose from. We enjoyed every single item we ordered, we can’t wait to come back!
