On 3/29/2024 at approximately 10:15 PM, I arrived at SILO Dallas to attend the Benny Benassi show. Upon arriving in the parking lot, I observed that all handicapped parking spots were open and not blocked by cones or signage. I parked in the space furthest from the entrance and proceeded to hang my valid state-issued handicapped placard on the rearview mirror.
While doing so, an older bald white male (approximately 40â50 years old, appearing to be in a valet uniform) ran up to my vehicle and blocked my driverâs door from fully opening. In an aggressive tone, he repeatedly shouted, âBACK UP, BACK UP, BACK UP â unless you canât walk, you canât park here.â
Caught off guard, I responded politely, âIâm sorry? I have a valid permit issued by a doctor.â Instead of de-escalating, he raised his voice, saying, âWeâll tow you if you stay hereâ and âThis is private property.â
A second valet (described as a short Hispanic male, approx. 20â30 years old) approached but did not intervene. Despite the fact that I am not obligated to disclose my medical condition, I attempted to explain the reason for my placard. I remained calm and respectful throughout.
Eventually, I asked, âWhere should I park then?â The older valet finally responded with, âGo to valet,â and walked away.
At that point, I was clearly upset. I moved my car about 35 feet and allowed valet to take over parking. I was not given a valet slip or receipt.
Upon exiting, I identified a manager (white male, 30s, beard, wearing a hat). I explained the situation to him, but he avoided eye contact, simply shook his head, and offered no apology or attempt to resolve the issue.
This entire experience was humiliating, especially as it happened in front of other patrons. The approach and behavior of the valet staff were aggressive and discriminatory, particularly considering I followed all legal procedures regarding handicapped parking.
I emailed the venue using their contact us 4/1/2025 and got an email right away back stating that "Please allow us 72 hours to respond. Thank You!" I also sent a follow up email with no reply as I write this review on 4/11/2025. I also checked their website that specifically addresses their accessibility policy which addresses the matter above.
I am giving SILO the opportunity to address this, and reach out...
Read moreI had the worst experience Iâve ever had at a rave before this Friday 01/31, My best friend and I went into the restroom together around 9:30 when we got there to have a girl time chat and be in the bathroom. One of the janitors came to knock on the door, so of course we open it thinking itâs one of our other friends. We then close it realizing itâs not our friends. Once weâre done using the bathroom, a grown man and a few other people working there walking into the restroom, looking in the bathrooms. We leave the restroom and walk towards the bar as our night had just began, for me to be jerked away from my friends completely and utterly disrespectfully without being told, why or what the cause maybe. The head of security then tells me if Iâd like to play games He can play them right back. I was completely assaulted and accused of smoking weed in the restroom when I was completely sober and all my joints were unlit in my bag. My favorite part about raids are the crowd and the vibe of the whole place, but I was completely took in for a turn. Not to mention, while he jerked me away from my friends they completely had my phone and all he could do was scream at me to leave the property. Iâve never felt so disrespected and attacked in my life. To reiterate, I was not smoking in the bathroom nor was i doing anything illegal in the restroom. I will be pressing charges on the Head of security for this event. I even talked to the police outside afterwards telling them what happened and what went down and he continued to come over and assault me while talking to the police, and because theyâre just there trying to do their job all they said was you have to listen to him. When you were at a place like this, you should know that itâs about setting a safe environment will also respecting others. Iâve never been so upset in my life. I was so excited for the spring, and attract bigger named artist. I even have tickets for events in March and May. But unless some action is taken to remove this individual, I donât know if me or any of my friends will attend...
Read moreIâve been to 2 shows at Silo since it opened, one in the main room and one in their smaller, more intimate venue in the same building called Ductwork. From my 2 experiences, I can say this currently is the best electronic music venue in Dallas. I think they shine in the positive, welcoming atmosphere that you just donât see anymore. No overbearing security, patdowns, and staff shining flashlights into the crowd trying to find an excuse to ruin someoneâs night like Bomb Factory, Lizard Lounge(RIP), Stereo Live, and even some of the after hours venues have now. Only time will tell if troublemakers ruin that, but right now it seems that the respect is returned by the guests. It might be because I went to house and drum and bass shows, but I encountered no drunk assholes or people so zonked out of their mind that it makes you a bit uneasy. I like to see them booking this kind of music instead of just focusing on noisy Riddim which seems to be the thing in DFW. Friendly bartenders, free water refill station(!), and the best part of all: ample FREE PARKING in the area. I would have been happy with $10 parking, but free is unheard of. It is going to benefit them that they chose a location in an industrial zone instead of the busiest place in the city on the weekends. In Deep Ellum Iâve gone to multiple shows where I ended up driving around the district while itâs packed with standstill traffic for 2 hours trying to find an affordable parking spot, before giving up and parking in their parking garage for $40, going in and realizing thereâs only 15 minutes left in the set.
Other than that the sound system is great in both rooms(if youâre not someone who enjoys hearing damage like me you might want to bring earplugs), and a food truck outside in the smoking area. At both shows the DJâs actually dropped down from the stage and met with fans afterward; either theyâre extra friendly or the other venues wonât let them do that.
I hope it stays this good! If youâre reading this, please be on your best behavior and donât screw this up for the people who...
