The employees were very nice. 👍💖💖 I really appreciated their kindness, especially after waiting on my fish dinner for close to 30 minutes... and there was no one else in the place. 😳😳 They gave me a free refill as I left instead of charging me the normal $2 fee for it. It was some great Kool-Aid, the star of the show! 😉💖 As for the food, it was okay. They do give nice-sized portions. My fish was fried perfectly, but it was not seasoned well at all. I added salt and pepper, though. My mashed potatoes were not fresh. They sort of just crumbled when I put my fork into them. I asked for gravy but it was some sort of watery broth or something. I added a little of it to the potatoes any way to try to help them be more creamy. Hmmm... The cabbage was pretty good, nice flavor and texture. I just needed a little AC vinegar on them. 😉😁 I've never been to a sit-down restaurant that didn't have a public restroom. 😳😳😳 That was really different for me. 🤔🤔 And it appears that there is no air conditioner working. They use a big industrial fan which isn't pointed toward the dining area so I was a little warm as I ate. 🔥🔥😳 Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way again to return, but I would give them another try if I'm in the neighborhood. Hey, we all can have an occasional bad/off day, especially with food, so I'm up for another try! 😉😉 Again, the employees were great, and I love to support our black-owned businesses. 💯 Try it for yourself because everyone has different taste...
Read moreThis place is pretty unassuming, but it has a whole lot of charm. We saw it while we were driving and on a whim decided to go there instead of whataburger.
We were greeted by coffee she was incredibly sweet and patient while she took our order! The price is really good and the food is even better.
We had gotten the smack yo pasta and the chicken and dumplings. The Mac n cheese and the candied yams. The chicken and dumplings are REAL buttery southern dumplings none of that biscuit can stuff. It tasted just like my grandma's. The smack yo pasta was really good on first bite it's very much like the restaurant it's self unassuming but the more you ate the more comforting it become, it has such a silky feel and a well spiced flavor.
This place has a lotta love in their food and no where else will you find that then their yams and Mac n cheese. The Mac and cheese was my favorite part. It was creamy with out being soupy, it was cheesy without being too much, wasn't dry and the herbs and spices were absolutely perfect. It's going to be a usual we get everytime we come out.
The only thing they didn't have was unsweet tea. But I will not take any stars off for that because that's silly.
We recently did a road trip of unassuming small business restaurants through the south and this one had the most comforting of the...
Read moreI CALLED in a take out for their today's (Thursday) special -Pot roast with veggies. The guy took my order and told me it will be ready in 10mins. Cool! I go through drive through and he asked "you got the beef tips?"... I said "no pot roast".. he says "oh yea, yea". I get home and guess what it is?? BEEF TIPS! I called and told them. His reply was oh we don't have pot roast anymore. It's beef tips now. So I asked him why didn't he tell me that when I called and place the order. Annnnddddd when he said beef tips and I corrected him and he said oh yea?? He says, "maybe we should update the website and menus". Ummmm yea! I said "and tell people if they call in because I would've ordered something else". He set in silence and then start speaking something in the background. He didn't ask if I wanted something else or a refund. Just said a lady manager will call me about this. I'm writing this review at 9:20pm. They closed at 9. Smh I wanted to like this place because it was my 2nd time and the 1st time was a bit weird with the baked chicken(wasn't anything special to rush back). But you not about to over charge me with these prices. Purposely don't tell me that you don't have something and then don't try to correct it. But why should you, again, you knew what you were doing and thought you could get...
