Unfortunately, the hype around this restaurant did not live up to its high expectations. We arrived promptly at our reservation time (7:15pm on a Thursday night), and then were brought to the inside lounge where we had to wait 36 minutes until we were brought to our table. This lounge was inside the restaurant near the bar where everyone else was waiting for their table. It seemed like this was a chance to get patrons to order several drinks before brought to the table, and we were asked 4 times what we wanted (after settling with water until we ordered drinks at the table). Once brought to the table (after receiving a text that our table was ready), we ordered the whipped ricotta and Caesar salad to start. The ricotta was ok - nothing to write home about but it was tasty if you got a bite with herbs. However, the Caesar salad was a massive disappointment. Maybe it wasn’t dressed accordingly? But this salad was on par with a bagged salad from the store. Nothing note worthy, the romaine was fine, and I could not taste the dressing. I do not like salads that are dripping with dressing, but I could not taste anything. This was incredibly disappointing, especially for the $28 (!) price tag. When we ordered the salad, the waitress asked if we wanted anchovies with the salad, and we said yes. Halfway through digging into the salad - we wondered where the anchovies were so we asked the waitress. She seemed surprised that there weren't any in the salad (somewhat doubting us, which soured the mood) and brought out 4 anchovies in a silver bowl. Again, for the $28 price point, this salad should have knocked us out of the park, or at least been better than a salad I could make myself. Lastly, we ordered the spicy rigatoni. This was indeed spicy but again - it was just ok!! Yes, it was flavorful but absolutely nothing that blew me away. I had been looking forward to this dinner for months and was incredibly disappointed in the entire experience. We ordered an aperol spritz which was quite tasty, even for the high price point ($18). The service was ok - our waitress had a distinct attitude of “upselling” which was off putting. When we ordered our ricotta, salad, and pasta (for 2 people), she asked if we wanted pizza (no), another salad (no) and maybe two pastas (again no). She then said we would have to save room for dessert (again no!). It felt like we were being pressured to order more - not a great look. Before arriving at the restaurant I looked up the address on Google and was shocked to see the reviews (3.8/5) . I thought this must be a different restaurant, but after experiencing it myself, the less than stellar reviews are all accurate (mediocre food, high price points, and pushy, upselling service). All in all, Carbone Vino is not worth it. It saddens me to write this as I was looking forward to it, but the food does not justify the incredibly high price points and the service feels pushy. Better off going somewhere else.

Excellent food and fun/attentive service; loved the spicy rigatoni and the zeppole and coconut sorbet were to die for. I really really wanted to love this place and come as often as I can because I just moved to Dallas from NYC and miss having spectacular food/service/the whole vibe of a nice fine dining place in NYC. However, a couple of things got under my skin and I’m just confused. I have been to Carbone in NYC and loved it…in NYC I’m expecting to spend around $150 per person for a really great, exclusive meal. However, I don’t really prepare myself for that in Dallas. It seems like a bit much for what it is. The branzino, a dish I’d usually pay around $50-70 at a great restaurant in NYC (obviously at Carbone I’m sure it would be more $$, but again in NYC I’m expecting that), was $125. The cocktails are no less than $18 (towards the most expensive drink price in NYC, basically unheard of in Dallas). Also, the rule that you cannot order any additional items (outside of dessert) after you’ve ordered your meal choices seems strange and a bad business decision-what if I ordered too little and wanted to add on a $30 salad? Seems like that’s something they’d want to capitalize on. The upselling strategies are also a bit much-our waiter attempted to upsell 1-during wine ordering, suggesting a $275 bottle, 2-during the meal ordering, suggesting an add-on veal chop for $75, 3-during dessert, suggesting espresso martinis and the biggest/most expensive dessert. It felt a bit pushy, especially since we were already spending upwards of $400 for 3 ppl. Otherwise it was a great experience and I respect the need to upsell in this market-but when you’re already at an extremely expensive restaurant owned by a group that is clearly doing well, I feel like we’ve already bought our freedom to get what we want😅 I definitely don’t want to bad mouth a restaurant bc I totally understand how hard it’s been these past couple of years, but I feel like in order for people to want to come back often, Vino could chill on some of these aspects.

Vino was quite delightful compared to Carbone. Or perhaps, because I had been to Carbone, I knew what to expect more or less. I like to think the tab is paying for the experience, and that while the food isn’t other worldly, it is still good enough if you know what to order. Feel like a lot of the negative reviews on here really expected a whole circus for the tab. The entire selection of food we ordered was quite good at Vino! Service was really good too. Our server informed us of how we would be served family style and gave us the run down of what to expect. We ordered the caesar salad (they don't make it table side like Carbone, but still, very very good; honestly would go to Carbone/Vino just to eat their caesar salad), margherita pizza, garlic chicken, broccoli, coconut and strawberry gelato. The pizza was okay, but I don’t favor pizza very much. My friend who loves pizza enjoyed it. Garlic chicken was very good. And I loved the garlic broccoli as well. The coconut gelato was creamier than the strawberry even though the coconut was supposed to be a sorbet! Good nonetheless. Didn’t get a pasta because my experience at Carbone with the pasta was not good, which should not be the case. But now I am more optimistic to try the pasta again, but maybe at Vino. I also love how they serve the food in courses/family style. It’s a good business strategy for them to get customers to order more full courses as opposed to single entree dinners. But we also get to try more menu items, and it creates an elevated experience. :-) Atmosphere was good. I was a little disappointed they sat us in the front corner despite having reservations. I usually like to be seated in the middle of the restaurant, but it was still a very good experience.

Mediocre food for how expensive they are. My non-alcoholic drink was still $15. My total bill was almost $150, and I didn’t even order any meat entree, no steak, no chicken, no seafood. The waitstaff kept serving my food family-style to the table even though we clearly were not dining that way, the waitstaff didn’t mention that food was served that way, and it also didn’t clearly say that on the menu, either. Furthermore, serving what I ordered to the table wouldn’t make sense because the portions were way too small to serve a table of six. The portions were barely enough for one. The menu is also very limited overall. The waitstaff also brought out the wrong items more than once. My mushroom ravioli had FIVE pieces… The blackberry gelato I ordered was not smooth or creamy, and it had chunks of what seemed to be like pie crust in it which was not palatable. Paciugo in the mall has better gelato for a better price. The Italian Beignets I ordered were a joke. They had the consistency of hush puppies from Long John Silver’s and were slightly underdone. If you want amazing Italian beignets, go to North Italia and get them.

The acoustics in this building are HORRENDOUS. You can’t hear the waiter at all which is also why they kept bringing out incorrect items, because they couldn’t hear us either… We also had to speak extremely loudly to hear each other. This particular space has been a few other restaurants before, and it is NOT designed for fine dining. It is a glass and concrete space with very high ceilings, and no person in their right mind would attempt to put a “fine dining experience” in a space like this…

The interior decor is nice, but you would never know, because they have almost no lights. We were having to pass around a tea light to be able to read the menu. We eventually had to ask for a second tea light. The menus were ridiculously large for no reason (limited menu as stated in previous paragraph), so when we were done figuring out what we wanted to eat we had nowhere to set these gigantic menus but to hold them which was ridiculous and unprofessional to do to customers, not to mention it isn’t elegant or attractive. It was also so dark you couldn’t see your food to eat. That is a HUGE no-no for expensive food. Presentation is a huge aspect of fine dining. This is common sense…

They do not allow any photography in the space. You cannot use a flash or light at all, so don’t come here for special occasions!!! And, as mentioned the restaurant is so dark that none of your pictures will turn out without having some sort of light source. If I’m paying almost $150 for ONE person to eat, yeah, I better be able to get some photos of a special celebration. You also can’t take photos outside because they have HIDEOUS curtains covering the two story floor to ceiling windows, in order to achieve their “atmosphere”. And these curtains are on the OUTSIDE of the building. So basically, they provide no space inside or outside for getting pictures. I have literally NO IDEA what restaurant management is thinking not providing this for clients in this day and age of social media.

We were a table of six and there was only one other table that has any people in it in the area we were eating. We tried to get at least a couple of photos, because I needed photography of the particular dress I was in for social media for the designer to be tagged on social media. After unsuccessfully trying to take photos in the almost total darkness, we used the flash and were asked to leave this almost empty area. The person who asked us to do photos in a second area they led us to had NO people in it, yet they were still rude about us using any light at all to try to get pictures. So why did they tell us we could use the flash in the area where there were no customers, if we couldn’t???

At least after this horrible experience we know why the restaurant was mostly empty on a Dallas Saturday night. Overall, the bill was outrageous for average or less than average food, in a poorly designed space, and no photos allowed. This...

I normally don't write reviews, but this is going to change in 2023 as I am so tired of spending exorbitant amounts of money for subpar food and service. Brace yourselves as this is going to be a review of epic proportions.

Upon arrival, the ambiance, music and overall aesthetic was great. It was very interesting to see how they merged the old Wheelhouse and Sassetta spaces to create this new dining experience. We checked in and were escorted to "the lounge" while we waited for our table. This was very strange because there were only two tables occupied and the restaurant was otherwise empty. It seemed as though they just wanted us to spend money at the bar prior to being seated.

The four of us were finally seated and were delivered some olives and chunks of parmesan drizzled with balsamic. The balsamic ended up on the table as the server had a heavy hand and no one thought to clean it up. Our olive pits adorned our large plates as there were no smaller bread plates on which to place said pits. I looked through the wine menu... very very expensive and I am not one to usually suffer from sticker shock. I finally found a bottle at a reasonable price and was pleased with the choice.

Everything on the menu is "family style and meant to share". We started with meatballs ($23 for six & they also delivered the plate right on top of the pool of balsamic in the middle of the table) and a Caesar salad ($29). The meatballs were small and had a decent flavor, but nothing mind-blowing (Jimmy's meatballs are far superior). The Caesar salad was drenched in dressing and had three large croutons on top. I could have made a better Caesar salad at home, to be honest. Very pricey for some garlic-drenched, large pieces of lettuce.

We then shared a pepperoni pizza ($29), which was more like a foccacia flatbread. They didn't supply a serving utensil for the pizza, so it made it awkward for those seated on the opposite side of the table. It was on the dry side and consisted of eight small squares. Again, nothing to write home about in any way, shape or form. Side note: as we were finishing our pizza, my friend literally had a small piece in her hand and they took her plate away. They rushed the service, spilled water all over the table while filling our glasses, and spilled wine onto one of our plates (our server actually put out our candle with some drops of wine as well). Not five-star service at all.

We ordered the spicy rigatoni for our last dish ($34). Our server called it "the Mona Lisa of the menu" and if we hadn't had it before, we should definitely try it. So we ordered it and then he said, "it really only serves two people per portion, so you should really double the order to feed all four of you", so we did just that. The now $68 pasta dish arrived. It was a very small portion (although doubled), but had good flavor. For that price, one would expect something better, especially when it's referred to as "the Mona Lisa" of the restaurant.

The overall experience left us hungry, confused and very disappointed. Do not believe all of the hype as there is much better Italian-style food at much better price points elsewhere. Now I don't question why Carbone's was stripped of their...

A few of my good girlfriends and I planned a nice evening to fellowship and exchange gifts before the holiday. We always wanted to try Carbone Vino and this was the perfect opportunity to do so. However in the end it was quite possibly the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant setting in my entire life. One of the ladies in my party made the reservation over a month ago. The reservation was made for the inside of the restaurant. Upon us arriving at the restaurant we are told that our reservation had been bumped, we could either take a table on the outside or leave. This in itself should of been where we turned around. Not professionally handled and very rude. Our party was extremely disappointed. The outside menu was cadual dining while the inside menu was more upscale. Also it was a cold night. But we really wanted to try the restaurant so we proceeded to take our table outside. I also want to know how a table can be bumped like thay especially when the reservation was made far in advance.

Our party was just four, and I absolutely felt our original accommodations should have been honored. So again this was our annual holiday gift exchange. The manager at the time provided us an extra chair for our gifts and bags. He also moved a heater closer to our table so that we could be comfortable outside because again it was a cold night. We decided to make the best of things, and proceed with our dinner and gift exchange. Until a lady abruptly comes in demading we put her chair back, while aggressively tapping on one of the ladies shoulders. I explain to the lady the chair was not hers, it was provided to us by the manager. I stopped a waiter passing by to please get her another chair. I do not understand why this lady did not ask the wait staff or hostess for a chair and instead became very confrontation with us. This was such a put off because no staff from the restaurant attempted to descalate the situation. After this incident your hostess Abigail, comes over to our table to take the heater and move it to the table with the aggressive lady. At this point we felt so umwelcome and it was as if the staff did not want us there, and did not appreciate our business. Before Abigail moved the heater I told her, "the manager provided us with this heater so we would not be cold outside. ". She looked at me, not saying anything and proceeds to move the heater. Then she got a second heater for their table. I got up to find the manager and let him know what was going on. He did come over to apologize however nothing was resolved. This was our queue to cancel the rest of our order and find somewhere else to go. The manager gave use 25% off of our bill so we paid out almost $200 drink and appetizers bill and left. The environment in this establishment was not welcoming to us at all, to say I am disappointed is an underestimate. As someone that works in the food industry, customer service is just as crucial as the food. The service was absolutely negative and I am hoping the staff undergo the proper training to provide excellent customer service to EVERYONE that comes into...
