This is my FAV upscale Mexican restaurant in Dallas! First of all, I need to mention that they have THE BEST espresso martini I've ever tried. Trust me. Although the entrees are phenomenal, I come specifically for the Lobster Elote & Chorizo Gravy Mashed Potatoes. Fav tacos get the Black Angus. Their desserts are also incredible, highly recommend the Quattro Leches & Campechana! Items Ordered:👇🏼 - Mexican Espresso Martini - El Rey - Sea Bass Ceviche - Aguachile De Ribeye - Black Angus Tacos - Pescado Culichi Tacos - Cowboy Ribeye - Filet & Bone Marrow Tacos - Chorizo Gravy Mashed Potatoes - Lobster Elote - Quattro Leches #fyp #dallasrestaurants #dallasfood #dallaseats #dfweats #dfwrestaurants #themexicandallas #mexicanrestaurant #finedinerestaurant

Title: A Unique Blend of Mexican Cuisine with a Cultural Twist Review: I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Mexican, and I must say, it was a truly intriguing experience. This restaurant offers a unique blend of Mexican cuisine with a cultural twist that sets it apart from other establishments. First and foremost, the food at The Mexican is outstanding. The menu boasts a wide array of flavorful dishes that showcase the vibrant and authentic flavors of Mexico. From sizzling fajitas to mouthwatering tacos, every bite was a delightful explosion of taste. The culinary team's expertise truly shines through in each carefully crafted dish. However, what sets The Mexican apart is the unexpected touch of cultural fusion. As mentioned in the review title, the valet service is provided by friendly individuals from El Salvador. While it may seem unusual at first, this blending of cultures actually adds an interesting dimension to the dining experience. Interacting with the valet attendants, who come from a different background, was a pleasant surprise. They were professional, courteous, and added a warm and welcoming touch to the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. Moreover, the restaurant itself exudes a lively and vibrant ambiance, reflecting the spirit of Mexican culture. The decor is tastefully done, with colorful murals, traditional artwork, and warm lighting that create a cozy and inviting space. The service at The Mexican was excellent overall. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and ready to assist with any special requests. It was evident that they take pride in providing a memorable dining experience for their guests. In terms of improvements, the parking situation could be better organized to ensure smoother access to the restaurant. Additionally, while the cultural fusion in the valet service is interesting, it would be helpful to have more clarity and information about this aspect for guests who may have questions. Overall, I highly recommend The Mexican for anyone seeking a unique and flavorsome dining experience. The combination of delicious Mexican cuisine, a lively atmosphere, and a touch of cultural fusion make it a standout choice. Whether you're a Mexican food aficionado or simply looking for a memorable culinary adventure, The Mexican is a restaurant worth exploring.

Poor Communication & Service and inconsistent Policies. Extremely Disappointing

The Mexican used to be one of my top recommended spots to friends and clients, but today my experience there has completely changed my opinion. I had made a reservation, but upon arrival, we were denied entry because they claimed my attire didn’t meet their dress code. However, when I confirmed the reservation over the phone, absolutely no one mentioned any dress code requirements. I did NOT receive any text message. This lack of communication was incredibly frustrating.

What really infuriated me was when my friend was trying to check what other patrons were wearing (some other customers were wearing casual clothes like jeans! ), the manager, Joseph Stevenson, rudely said something like, “Regardless of what other people wear, he was speaking to us “It felt like he was making it personal rather than fairly enforcing any sort of policy. It was incredibly frustrating to see other guests wearing casual pants or jeans being allowed inside while we were turned away supposedly due to our attire. I also felt disrespected when they said that we would avoid any "athletic fabric.". So a pants made of atheletic fabric would be discriminated against? How ridiculous it is !

I did miss an in-app message on OpenTable regarding their dress code, but people barely checked those messages right? The key issue is that during our previous visit, I was wearing athletic shorts (yeah right, atheletic short), and there was absolutely no problem to seat over the table or entry. No one mentioned anything about a dress code back then and I was not aware of the issue. If they truly had strict dress code rules, why weren’t we informed on our prior visit over the phone or keep a consistent enforcement? If they had communicated this over the phone or made it clearer last time, we would have made sure to dress appropriately.

This time, I was wearing dark gray long pant, which were casual but definitely not overly sporty. They were a cotton-based pair of pant that could resemble joggers, but they leaned more toward a casual, non-athletic style. Even though the pants were more on the relaxed side, they were far from gym wear. Alright, they might be made of their definition of "atheletic fabic." If we had known earlier or been clearly informed when I called, we would have dressed more appropriately to fit their expectations.

In the end, despite trying to reason with them and offering to make adjustments, the staff insisted they couldn’t “make an exception.” The entire situation was infuriating because it could have been avoided with clear communication upfront. Instead, we were left feeling unfairly singled out, wasting our time and energy.

I will never take my clients, my friends, or book company parties at this place ever. So...

FOOD INSTAGRAM: @northtx.gemz •••• Edit: We came back on May 17th for a dinner for 4 and our experience was 1000% better. The food tasted a lot better this time we got different items such as the crispy pork belly tacos, shrimp tacos, mashed potatoes, and the ancho caesar salad. We even got a complimentary tres leches! Service was great and not too pushy with the upcharging like last time. I am glad I gave this place another chance! 🍒 WHAT THEY’RE KNOWN FOR: upscale Mexican food in a very nice and beautiful venue. 🍒WHAT WE ORDERED: • La Niña Fresa Margarita • Mujeras Divinas Margarita • El Rey Margarita • Suizas de Pollo Enchiladas x2 • Camarones Gobernador Tacos • Rice & Beans x3 • Quattro Leches 🍒 PRICE: ~$75 per person (pretty standard each time) 🍒 THE VIBE: sultry, lively, & just fancy vibes. Bigger than you think inside. 🍒 WOULD I COME BACK? Yes, maybe in a year though lol. •••• Overall Rating: 6.5/10 We went to The Mexican back in February 2023 and the food was phenomenal. We were so excited to come back were very disappointed 😭 This opinion is a cumulation of our experience on July 8, my friend, made a reservation for her birthday a month in advance. However, we showed up that day to find it CLOSED. There was no text sent that the power had went off which is extremely UNPROFESSIONAL. I know these restaurants can send a text through Resy but we showed up all dressed up to be disappointed. We wanted to give another chance but we were still disappointed with the food! I will say the margaritas are perfect. Chips and salsa were delicious too. However, I wanted fish tacos and I don’t appreciate the server upselling me to the shrimp tacos to find out they were more expensive but they were decent but eh I still craved my fish tacos. Rice & beans were good though but they’re not on the menu but it’s an $6 up charge he didn’t tell us either which is fine bc $6. My friends thought their chicken enchiladas were okay as well. However, at the end we were set on the Quattro leches and he tried to convince us to get something else and I get it I used to be a server it’s his job but the fact he up-sold us something without telling us 3 separate times is just scammy to me 😭 Anyways, food was okay and service was okay. Disappointed bc our experience last time was perfect. And we waited months to come back after they were randomly closed to have okay...
