I attended yesterday to celebrate my sister's birthday for brunch. this restaurant is located inside the virgin hotel. You can access both from the outside and / or through the lobby and Cafe indoors. There is street parking and / or paid parking lots available within walking distance. If you want to valet, you can pull upfront, and they will provide u with a ticket. I know most of the reviews say that valet is not validated. However, when I asked how I could pay for it, our waiter told us they would validate our valet ticket. I was pleasantly surprised considering everyone in the reviews has stated this is not an option, also considering that the weekend valet is $20. So if u decide to come and eat, just ask them to validate your valet, I think the venue did listen to everyone's concerns and is now doing this. The interior of the venue is super cute, there's lots of spots to take photos perfect for the Gram throughout. Some of their seating is super comfy in the dinning area, my only take back were the white stool chairs, they are not big people or short people friendly for dinning purposes, however their slightly shorter blue teal chairs were super comfy along with their booths. The staff was super nice and friendly and very accommodating, we had a big party of 10 people and our food and drinks came out in a timely matter, we did not have any issues with our orders at all. I personally had the chicken and waffles, I only had a cup of coffee and water with my brunch. However, some of the others in our party did partake in the brunch drinks, and they all loved their cocktails. The brunch menu has lots of different options for everyone, from pancakes to charcuterie and pancake boards to vegan and vegetarian options. The drink menu is also extensive, and there's options for everyone, including caffeinated cocktails. The venue also has a full service bar within the dining area but also to the side with some lounge sections for those who want to sit down and relax. Upon asking for our check we received ours right away, we were never rushed during our stay and never waited for anything, our waiter was very much on top of things and kept up with our large party. After brunch was over, the staff was nice enough to take a few photos of our party before everyone left. Some of us stayed back to take pics within the venue and the lobby. Overall, I had a great experience, I would definitely come back again, it has a really good atmosphere. The music is not overwhelmingly loud, and u can have a conversation without having to raise your voice...
Read moreI visited the funny library for the second time this week. Everything was amazing with the coffee shop.
Issue came when I ask to purchase bacon for a sandwich I wished to finish. I didn’t want to throw my sandwich away that I previously purchased at Eatzy hours earlier. So, I asked the bar tender to ring me up for 3 slices of bacon because that was his reaction the quantity. Everything was going great until he called over another bar tender to verify the information he had given me.
The bar tender was advised to step aside and the other gentleman approached me. Asking where I had gotten my sandwich from. Telling me it’s against code for me to eat my sandwich in the library area. Where I had seen many ppl come in off the street with their own beverages and food.
He even stated that he has seen many ppl throughout the day eat food there and there was a customer, he was going to approach after our conversation because he didn’t want us eating in there.
He then told me to hurry up and box my sandwich up and buy it away in the rudest way possible. “You need to box it up now, THANK YOU!” Were his exact words.
I stepped aside and went back to my table refusing to stoop to his level of ignorance. 2 seconds later he came to my table in the library coffee shop area and said “ maam, I’m sorry! You’re able to eat your sandwich. Not in here! But, outside on the patio!”
I had not even touched my sandwich. So, I replied “ Sir, I said I am done talking!” I was so uncomfortable because I had just came the day prior and spent $40 and tipped on coffee, croissant and the lunch special $20 (Salad, turkey sandwich, drink, cookie and fries)
It was good when my money was being spent there. But, me bringing in a sandwich I purchased was a problem. I felt I did nothing wrong because many other had eaten in front of the staff with no consequences.
I had been coming to do my bible study, reading, and content for my business. I won’t let him ruin my daily devotion. But, hes extremely rude!!!!!!!!!!! Need I remind you all I was there 9am-6pm. I spend a substantial amount of money...
Read moreThis restaurant is beautiful with great ambiance and service, but the food is pretty disappointing. The price for value of most dishes is also not good, this is definitely more of a place to see and be seen.
The host stand is set between the coffee shop and the bar, not at the main door from the street. This made it a bit awkward to find but not impossible.
We ordered oysters, boujee tots, the crab and avocado dish, both mocktails, the waygyu tomahawk kings feast, the tropical dessert, and tea and coffee.
The oysters were clean and fresh, and paired with a mignonette, house cocktail sauce, and a single lemon wedge for 6. 5/5
The boujee tots were incredible - a creative and interesting dish that was well executed. 5/5
The chilled crab and avocado dish was fine, but definitely would have benefited from a splash of citrus or a bit more salt. 4/5.
The mocktail selection was dismal, mostly blended fruit juices. I always look for more interesting flavors (like spices, smoke or other complexity) but was disappointed in that regard. The prickly tickly was very good, the other mocktail could have benefitted from a spicy kick or some seasoning, though to be fair they were out of one of the ingredients used to make it. 4/5
The wyagu tomahawk arrived on a too-large for our table hot plate that cooked our steak past temperature. The steak didn't have the marbling characteristic of wyagu, and was severely underseasoned. The steak was served with a bordelaise sauce and a bearnaise sauce which broke due to being served on a hot plate. Our steak also arrived without the potatoes listed on the menu but our server promptly delivered those when made aware. The potatoes were good. 2/5
The dessert had some good components - the almond tuile was a little soft but tasty, and the mango sorbet was very good and at the correct temperature. The largest part of the dish, a coconut lime mousse, was served frozen on the plate and was tasteless. 3/5
The coffee was the same as The Funny Library, a very acidic blend that tasted a bit burnt. The tea was good. 3/5 for after...
