I usually travel to Waterbury at this very popular spot where they have real authentic fresh tasty dishes or sometimes cook my own Jamaican dishes. (ANYWAY) I decided to try this restaurant out since I received their advertisement in the mail, It's a very clean establishment and the staff was friendly prices was okay...my first complaint is that the food wasn't fresh at all! I order 2 large curry goat with steam cabbage and pumpkin rice which cost $45 I didn't mind paying that price but, I expect to receive quality food and bigger portions for that price....I asked for extra gravy on the goat and rice but I didn't get what I asked for. I got home anticipating to enjoy my food and that didn't happen! The goat was very tough and there was only about 7 pieces of meat, a hand full of rice and the cabbage was over cooked and the flavor wasn't there at all it was very bland. It looked and taste like they reheated the food from the previous day the gravy or whatever you would call it was very watery and thin, the goat wasn't tender and the rice was mushy as if they added water to the rice and reheated it. I could literally take a spoonful of rice in my hands and make rice balls out of it...there was absolutely no pumpkin flavor! My mom also said that something in her dish tasted sour or it was on the verge of going bad. So that night we ate maybe 3 spoonful of our meal and threw the rest in the garbage and said we will NEVER go back there. My second complaint is the black boxes they use to put the food in isn't practical at all! The side flaps on the box continue to rise up as I was trying to eat my meal, I literally had to constantly push the side of the flaps down with one hand and hold my spoon in the other hand while eating. At that point I was ANNOYED! They should consider in investing in plastic containers which would be...

Overall: it was just ok
Ordered a jerk chicken meal and a patty w/coco bread to go
I like that the to-go box wasn't a plastic tub so points there and the food looked/smelled good off the rip. But when I took a bite right away I knew this wasn't what I was hoping it would be.
The flavor was super tame and mild which is not the mouth slapping flavor explosion I'm used to from jerk seasoning.
The pieces were kinda greasy missing that charcoal flavor which made me feel like they weren't grilled 🤔...
the veggies were solid and the rice & peas were on point but there was way more of that than anything else, at least throw some more greens to even it out some.
The patty.... now while this patty was wayyyy better than a golden crust one it isnt made there
and that unfortunately translates to a crust that is missing out on the flake and a filling that is just not exciting enough (I got SPICY? too),
plus it wasn't even between the bread which wasn't fresh baked either but I get it That's a lot of work just the difference between fr3sh light melt in your mouth cocobread versus a day or two old reheat is night and day fahm. IYKYK
Pros: nice clean open space and a solid menu of faves. Food is cooked well Great portion of rice & peas Good vibe Great potential
Cons: Lack of intense flavor Missing the...
Read moreLove Jamaican food. This is a clean causal spacious dine in or takeout. Staff was attentive and friendly they have a pretty large menu with lots of protein options.
I ordered a jerk pork, it comes with your choice of vegetables I chose steamed vegetables. It was primarily cabbage with some other vegetables steamed perfectly. I also got the rice and peas, and they added plantains. I also ordered a meat Patty the spicy one.
The pork was seasoned perfectly good notes of a mild jerk seasoning. The pork was definitely a fatty cut, but the fat was all rendered perfectly so it was decadent, but also delicious. The rice and peas were perfect both in cook and seasoning. Just the right amount of seasoning in the mild, perfectly steamed vegetables match so well to rich seasoned meat. The meat patty was not as good as the rest of the meal, but I'm also spoiled as I used to go to Jamaica Center in Jamaica Queens, NYC and get patties there.
A lot of times these Jamaican places have a buffet out front and the proteins get dried out and everything else gets soggy. That was not the case here everything tasted and was cooked to perfection. The oxtail sauce was really good. I'm definitely gonna order oxtail next time. All the staff were friendly and pleasant. It was a great experience and will...
