I’ve been coming here for years and years. Last night I came with a friend and we each ordered a margarita to just hang out and talk for a bit. The server questioned our IDs at first which is understandable, gotta do your job! But proceeded to be extremely rude about it. After delivering our drinks she never checked on us. Not one time. Every time she walked past us with no smile, no comment, nothing. We asked for our checks and my friends was around $25 for a skinny large margarita. My friend put $27 down and told our server to keep the change, The server then proceeded to count the money in front of our table and said to her “Just going to explain something to you. This tip isn’t enough because I have to tip out the bar 5%. Basically I’m paying for your drink right now. You need to leave me more so I can cover that.” Little did she know I was the one taking care of the tip that night. For both me and my friend. The unprofessionalism to even question a tip is beyond me. I’ve worked in a restaurant for 6 years and yes, it’s very frustrating to not receive the tip you think you deserve (which in my opinion she didn’t even deserve 20% because the service was awful and so was her attitude) but I obviously was going to leave her at least 20% of me and my friend’s bills combined. I just can’t believe the server sat and counted the money and questioned my friend. Super disrespectful and rude! Didn’t get her name and didn’t want to talk to the manager because I didn’t want to make a scene, looking back I should have. I’ll definitely come back because the food is great and usually the other servers I’ve encountered have been great. But if I ever get sat in this server’s section I will politely asked to be moved...
Read moreWe've eaten here many times previously, and it was a great experience. However, this time we left our name on the list after being told there were no seats available outside or inside. Then the hostess proceeded to erase it and seat others in front of us. When we confronted the hostess about it, she got extremely rude, put her hand up, and requested that we continue to wait. A gentleman saw this, walked up, and offered to seat us outside. The table we were brought to had food and liquid all over the ground and seats. There was also some debris on the table. The gentleman handed us 3 silverware and left us standing there without cleaning anything. After about 10 minutes someone brought us chips and placed them on the dirty table. After we pointed out that the area was filthy, she apologized and scampered off. When she came back, she wiped half of the table off with a dry napkin and went back inside. After another brief delay, a waitress came and asked if we had been helped. We detailed our experience this far, she apologized, and found us a clean table inside. Hopefully things improve from here, but I'm not getting my hopes up as it seems they were unprepared for the volume of people showing up to celebrate 5/5.
Update: Andrew was amazing and was the star of the night. He was very attentive, keeping our glasses full and making sure our food was correct. Updating service to 3* just because his stellar performance was still overshadowed by 3 other poor showings....
Read moreWell, to start the server informing us that she had been there since 10 am as she approached us was a tell tell sign of how the visit was going to go. Then, with fluidity the problems started! The bean and cheese dip was cold, I ask to have it warmed and it came back colder than before. Then when we received our entrees I'll be damed if they were only a tad warm! Just some information for you guys at DON CARLOS melted cheese poured over something is not a cooking technique, I promise! To end it all and just depart the restaurant we informed the young lady about our food and she jetted to tell the manager before we could even finish the sentence! Now, our intent was to just let them know for the future partons. When she arrived back she AGAIN told us she had been there since 10am and that the manager had discounted our ticket! Here is the issue with that! We wanted to pay for our food as we are also in the service industry! Had the manager come and spoke to us as any other reputable restaurant would have done we could have saved them from this kind of review. Yes, we still tipped on original amount of ticket @ 20%! I think taking your time and not rushing through things is imperative!! In the future as I've not given up on Don Carlos I will preface the visit with please make sure my food is hot!...
