We do a lot of business here and have for a long time. Our employees at our dealerships order food from here almost daily practically and being that we work late hours, it has almost become a ritual to eat here after the long days serving our customers . We order food for our guests from here, sing praises about this business and LOOK FORWARD to the customers that come from out of town to buy cars from us who ask us this question “what’s a good place to eat around here?”- to which I cannot count how many times so many of our team members, including myself have enthusiastically answered, “MELLOW MUSHROOM!”. It actually brings me joy to refer somebody to try MM for the first, as I have been fortunate enough to enjoy it for years. The food is great, we’ve formed friendships with the staff there and furthered relationships at those tables and it is truly one of my favorite places- which makes my experience so disappointing because I will most likely never go back to this location, nor will I ever be able to refer anybody to do business here again, and I’m sure the others that were with me tonight will feel the same way after the unbelievably awful service and attitude from the staff , the fill in bartender, and the operations manager who would not give her card or name when we asked for it. Several members of our team ate there tonight as we have so many times before and being in customer service, I don’t even know what to make of what just happened or know what to say about the way we were treated, talked to, mocked, laughed at and disregarded before ordering, during our meal, and the absolute slap in the face at the end of it for ordering a drink 1 minute after 10 o clock for an employee that stayed late to close o her store so we could all make it in ample time before MM closed so that we would not inconvenience the staff that we have so openly praised so often and have done so much business with for so long because we know what it’s like to stay late and although we regularly do that in our line of work to take care of our guests “after hours”, we weren’t expecting anything like that in return, but definitely expected to be treated like customers that do and have done business and who work next door, who take care of our servers and truly love the restaurant. I hate even writing this review, but being in customer service and knowing how hard it can be sometimes to do the job, I would like to think I can tell the difference of a staff that puts the customer first, the business first and puts themselves first and this was about as bad as it gets and it’s sad to say it was clearly a reflection of the manager and fill In bartender, not the staff, and set an absolutely dismal standard for leadership and slapped one of their biggest customers in the face with absolutely no accountability or care about how much business they just lost from people that absolutely love the food and many of the employees there but I will never contribute another penny to this location nor will I refer anybody ever again and I will share my experience since relationships are quite clearly not valued by the “regional manager” or the bartender filling in for Gwen. My mind is blown that the person who should be leading the charge and setting an example to the staff at that store was the one enabling the behavior and attitude we were shown at a place that says “11-until” for the hours, ushering out business at 10:01 after we had already eaten our food and getting ready to pay, we were basically kicked out for asking for a drink at the end while they were still cleaning and doing their sidework and mocked when we asked to talk to a manager.
“My people don’t get paid after hours-so I’m not gonna pour a drink”— 1 drink- to 30%+ tippers and probably their biggest customers over the years, After just spending hundreds of dollars between 7 of us in the hour we crammed our food down because we cared enough about what they do NOT to keep them after hours, which we didn’t- and they made sure we won’t be there again because the “boss” set...
Read moreMellow...what are you doing?! I have been coming to this location forever, sometimes several times a week, and absolutely love the food. However, the new "management" needs some attention. Who IS this Michael guy and where did he even come from? :-( We have always sat at the bar or one of the bar tables. The number one reason: GWEN! Not only is she the best bartender, she is also the best server in the restaurant. Trust me, we learned that the hard way. I am not saying there aren't other servers who are okay but they pale in comparison. Recently, we have been pretty disappointed when trying to get seated in Gwen's section. We have been told she no longer serves the tables in the area and once were told she wasn't working that night...when we could very clearly SEE her behind the bar. :-( Like I said, we have been coming here forever and have watched her wait on the entire bar (15 seats) and ALL of the surrounding tables (6) with no issues hundreds of times. There are people who come here just for her. The regulars, locals. Now we are being lied to about her working? We have left a few times, along with several others, because we couldn't be waited on by her EVEN THOUGH there were tables available in the bar area that was once her area. If anyone paid attention, they would notice how many people are in her section versus the rest of the restaurant at any given point. Why is this happening and why is it only happening during the week, yet not happening on the weekends when other people are working? Don't think people aren't noticing! Not only are they noticing but they are talking about it...A LOT. You might want to rethink the "new" structure because it isn't working, your locals aren't happy, and eventually we will all find somewhere that appreciates our patronage and loyalty. PS) Michael is RUDE and shouldn't be in charge of anything. Normally, I would give MM 5 stars all day long but this review is based solely on the new changes I have witnessed and NOT on the food or cleanliness of the...
Read moreHaving been in the restaurant business for 20 years and literally worked every position I have a very realistic expectation when dining. Small mistakes I pay no attention to but my experience at this location was just poor. Taking my roommate, who is from New York, to experience Mellow Mushroom for the first time was promised to be a treat. I frequent the Mobile and Covington LA. locations many times and felt confident in bragging. To start the first two (very popular) beers we requested were out. Then the third popped (ran out) after slightly less than half the pitcher. The bartender was accommodating with mixing the half pitcher with my request but when I got my bill I noticed I was charged a higher end price than what I was poured. My roommate smokes and asked where to smoke. He was told out the door next to the bar but don't prop it open it will not be locked. It was locked so he was locked out twice and had to knock until someone let him in. The pizza came out warm at best, it sat in the window far too long. It was a house special extra cheese. The toppings had been sloppily placed on the pizza, there were parts of the pizza that were just sauce, just bare. I asked for no olives on half, only two slices had no olives. Having ordered this pizza no less than 20 times over the years I could tell it was HALF portioned. We sat close to the back exit and the AC (although felt good on my back) blew so hard the pizza was stone cold after the first slice. I felt disappointed and embarrassed by my recommendation of...
