Lazi Cow — Restaurant in Davis

A dessert/milk tea place that embodies the quirkiness of Davis. They have a variety of tea/dessert drinks, pizookie, brick toast, food, and now alcoholic boba! It's a very casual cafe environment that has board games, hip music, and Davis/Cow-town themed decor.

The brick toast here is their main specialty: half a loaf of bread, toasted so the pieces are crisp outside but soft inside- paired with sweets and syrup/condensed milk galore. They allow you to customize the ice cream flavors- green tea, vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, etc. It takes them 20-30 minutes to make and is best shared.

The alcoholic boba here is just okay- the boba itself is very sweet and maintains its texture in the alcohol but the drinks were just ok. I tried the green tea heineken and it was a little too sour for me and the sex on the beach was sour as well. Somehow, the drinks mixed together tasted better? But they have more options for alchoholic boba than most places I've seen. I think the milk tea was subpar but hopefully they've improved in the past year.

Hot day = boba drink… minus the actual boba because I was too full from lunch. They have a pretty extensive menu of drinks here. Even some with alcohol. As we had a long drive ahead of us, I just got one of their teas. After a long time of deciding, I got the Fruity Poison which had kiwi and pineapple in it. I don’t know if it’s me, the drink, or the combination of the two fruits, but I wasn’t really feeling it. I usually like interesting combinations, but this one was just not that good. And the tea didn’t taste natural and there was too much syrup, which I hate (as much as I do love sugar). They also give it to you in a glass milk bottle, which is cool, but then of course they mark up the price of the drink.

Overall, maybe I just pick the wrong item on the menu and I should give it another shot, but I always think that If it’s not good in the first place, don’t bother putting it on the menu. Thanks to the packaging (no to go bag) and the fact that they filled our fries so full that I couldn't close the box, our fries ended up on the floor of our car. That's $5 wasted of my hard earned money. I don't think there was any thought process when packaging was decided. Also disappointed that they were rude when they made my mom's drink as a slush and not the smoothie that she order. A woman behind the counter rudely asked "now what is wrong with that drink" to the guy that was helping my mom when she took it back in. I now am even more disappointed that my drink as I got to the bottom sits here frozen as ice including my boba with zero flavor because my smoothie was made as a slush but was better blended than my mom's slushed "smoothie" while her remade smoothie is creamy and full of flavor still.
