Tasty Palace 品香阁 — Restaurant in Davis

I’m gonna be completely honest, so far it’s probably the worst Chinese food I have ever had in Davis. I ordered the customizable hotpot w tomato broth, the soup was simply tomato soup with no actual chucks of tomato, which I understand cuz most restaurants are using premade soup packs nowadays. The only thing that made the entire dining experience worsen was that apparently the hotpot came 1 noodle (required) while I’ve got starch noodle from the add on lists so I didn’t really need another carb source. The girl told me that I have to pick one of the 2 cuz it’s paired with the broth so there’s no way to swap it to other things. I ended up having a whole bunch of noodles left in my bowl, which i believe directly goes into waste. Customer service is alright, the server came to us asking about suggestions and areas of improvements. I am an international Chinese student, it’s probably worst Chinese restaurant I have ever visited in US. The braised beef with green onions tastes fine but served in pathetic size compared to its price. You would struggle to find slices of beef from a whole pile of onions. Pickle fish is horrible. Fish fillets are heavily overcooked and poorly seasoned with somewhat muddy taste. The dining area is noisy as a bar. After we finished dining, three servers surrounded us and demanded for extra gratuity. It is the most ridiculous experience I had in any restaurant and I strongly discourage anyone to eat here. There’s at least a dozen of better choices for Chinese...

Eating at Tasty Palace last night was a delightful experience. The restaurant's decor had a classic Chinese charm with elegant red lanterns and traditional artwork, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.The menu offered a wide variety of Chinese dishes, I ordered the hot and sour soup, which was a perfect balance of flavors with just the right amount of spice.
