Oh, what a delightful experience I had tonight during Bike Week! I rolled up on my trusty steed, eager to sip a drink on the balcony like the sophisticated biker I am. But alas, the downstairs peasants informed me I had to gasp purchase a beverage first before ascending to the hallowed balcony. Fine, I thought, Iāll humor themāgrabbed a drink and a cigar, because Iām fancy like that, and made my way up to bask in the glory of my temporary throne. But then, enter stage left: a charming "Karen" who clearly missed her calling as a diplomat. She swooped in, all huff and puff, demanding a measly $25 to remain in her sacred VIP kingdom. I tried to dazzle her with tales of my drink-and-cigar purchaseāsurely proof of my worthinessābut she wasnāt having it. "Not VIP enough," she sneered, as if my New York pedigree meant nothing. Up north, weād have laughed her out of the bar, but here? Oh no, she doubled down, shooing us lowly patrons off the balcony like we were stray cats. Mission accomplished, I supposeācongratulations on your pristine, empty balcony, geniuses! Iāll just take my money and dignity elsewhere. Enjoy your $25 sticker-price paradiseāonly a sucker would pay for that āprivilege.ā We wonāt be gracing you with our presence again,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeignets were amazing! I ordered PoBoy shrimp sandwich. I've NEVER had mini salad shrimp fried on a PoBoy (picture below). I'm used to large shrimp on a poboy sandwich. When I asked to exchange the sandwich for the fish I was told I could not exchange the food but I could purchase the fish in addition to the shrimp sandwich at 30 % off. I gave the entire sandwich back (and said no thank you) only to be charge for the sandwich anyway. You can see the over cooked mini shrimp sandwich. I won't be back. So sad because I've heard great things about this place and we were so excited about coming today. My friend ordered the gumbo, but the rice was not cooked thoroughly. When initially placing my order I told the waitress I was getting gumbo to go, however, after seeing the gumbo with crunchy rice, I changed my mind on that too. I live locally with friends that come into town for events, but I do NOT recommend this to anyone coming into town or any of my friends locally. So sad, because I looked forward to supporting...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbsolutely disappointing experience. I drove over 2 hours from Jacksonville to Daytona, arriving at this establishment around 10 PMāwell within their posted business hours (Google says they close at 12 AM). My guest and I were ready to support, spend good money, and enjoy a night out. Instead, we were told by the bartenderāor whoever was in chargeāthat the kitchen was closed and we could only order drinks. Whatās the point if we canāt order food right???
Closing early without notice? Turning away paying customers? Recommending Ocean Deck as if thatās not the default tourist spot weāve already been to? Come on. This is exactly why supporting Black-owned businesses feels like a gamble sometimes. The lack of professionalism, consistency, and customer care is frustrating and honestly embarrassing.
We came ready to show love, but clearly that wasnāt...
