Used to be my favorite restaurant. Ate here at least once per week. Last time, it was laundry day, and I only had a bunch of coin change in my pocket to leave as a tip. It was $5+ in coin change, which was actually a great tip compared to my total bill, over 25%. I figured money is money, right? Apparently not. The next time I tried to eat here, I was approached by the owner / manager immediately, who had a strong accent and was very rude / condescending when I couldn’t hear what he was saying over the loud music / environment. He loudly exclaimed “DO YOU SPEAK ENGLISH?” and said his servers were “insulted” by the tip left in coin change. And that they would rather I not leave a tip at all in the future. I thought money was money, right? Wrong. I didn’t mean to “insult” anybody. It was laundry day and it was all I had. With how embarrassing they made the situation, much ado over nothing, I am afraid to eat here again. What if they do something to my food because they were “insulted” ? One time there was a mysterious object in my bowl of chips. I know what it looked like, but who knows what it was... Needless to say I didn’t eat that bowl of chips. I’ll let the pictures of it speak for themselves... might be some sort of problem going on here... I don’t know. I’ve seen similar things elsewhere before... not usually in food. Very unsettling. I let it go at the time, but now, who knows... Probably won’t eat here again. They can...

You'll appreciate the colorful, comfortable, and clean dining room. The open kitchen concept allows dinners to see their meal being prepared. Nothing to hide here!
The margaritas are well balanced and served in an appropriately sturdy glass with a salted rim (of course) and a friendly lime wedge garnish to complete this familiar cocktail. These won't be the reason you come back, but they're good.
Fresh, house-made salsa with semi-house made tortilla chips are brought to the table upon being greeted. The salsa is bright in both color and taste! A nice, slow, building, medium heat slightly lingers in the mouth after a few bites and you'll be happy for the beautiful melody of flavors that accompany the spice of this salsa.
I ordered the lunch portion (2) of the Mexican Tacos and I chose shrimp as my protein. Steak, chicken, shrimp, Mahi Mahi, and veggie, are the meat options. All served with your choice of corn or flour tortillas and sides of refried beans, Spanish rice, fresh Pico de Gallo, and green chili sauce. Flavorful, fresh, and completely delicious!
Go early and bring a friend. A true gem in the heart of downtown Dearborn. I'll certainly be going...
Read moreWe happily dined at this location many times when it was Los Galanes. We attempted to dine in Friday evening and upon walking to the entrance, we noticed it is now Don Taco. We proceeded to enter with no hesitation. We were promptly greeted and seated by the host, chips and salsa were promptly served upon sitting down. That was it. We were never greeted, provided drinking water to go with the spicy salsa, no waiter, waitress, nobody. It was far from busy, which was perhaps a missed sign? Very minimal staff, but for a Friday evening at peak dinnertime and good weather, you would think there would be more customers and staff. The few guests that were dining in were not being taken care of either. A few glances across the room and the looks were confirming the same unspoken concerns that I am pointing out. After 15 minutes of waiting, with never a greeting, we left. On the way out, an employee politely said thank you. We were sitting in the middle section in a very open and visible area. Very unfortunate and disappointing. I'm assuming new name means new owner, cooks and staff as clearly the experience last night was nothing near what we experienced when it was Los Galanes. We won't...
