Nestled in the heart of Dearborn, The Himalayan Flames offers a culinary journey that is nothing short of spectacular. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the warm, inviting ambiance. The candle-lit sitting area provides a cozy and intimate dining experience, perfect for a relaxed evening out.
Despite the slightly higher prices, they are comparable to other restaurants in the area and are well worth it for the quality and authenticity of the food. I had the pleasure of trying the Methi Malai Chicken with a side of naan, and it was undoubtedly one of the best dishes I have ever tasted. The rich, creamy sauce paired with tender, flavorful chicken was a culinary delight, leaving me eager to return for more.
One unique aspect of the dining experience here is that dishes are served as they are prepared, rather than all at once. While this may be a preference thing for some, it didn’t detract from the overall enjoyment of the meal. In fact, it added a touch of freshness to each dish as it arrived.
However, one dish that left me slightly disappointed was the tandoori chicken. While the flavor was excellent, the portion size was quite small for the price. Despite its great taste, I wouldn’t recommend it purely because of the portion size.
In summary, The Himalayan Restaurant Flames is a gem in the city’s dining scene. The exceptional food, combined with the charming atmosphere and attentive service, ensures that I will be back for another visit. If you’re looking for an extraordinary dining experience, this is the place to be....
Read moreThe food was mainly amazing but there are some things that they can still improve on. The spice levels are not accurate at all, they’re more sweeter than what you would expect (ex. Medium hot is mild-medium). The wait times were okay but once you order, the food takes a long time to be prepared. The waiters honestly made us want to leave. They barely pay attention when you call them and suck at checking up on you especially for water refills. They need to invest in tissue napkins at the tables too instead of the cloth napkin. The chicken tikka, chicken 65, and shrimp curry were great but the butter chicken was wayy too sweet and over cooked. We tried the biryani which was amazing. The gulab jamun was unfortunately, absolutely nasty. They added some sort of essence or ingredient too it that was too strong and ruined the entire flavor and texture. Kheer was okay even though the cardamom and essence flavors were too strong and it was a very thick consistency. I personally liked the mango lassi although I wish the portion sizes were bigger. This place is too expensive for the things they need to improve on and the small entree portion sizes too but they’ll get the stars for the freshness and great taste of the entrees. However, this is by far the best Indian I had compared to many other places… will definitely be back to...
Read moreDecent food but TERRIBLE service! I went to dinner with my Pakistani partner and was looked like a 3-eyed alien likely because I am Black. I understand it's not a combination one sees often, but come on!
I was on a cleanse so wanted grilled or raw veggies and grilled chicken. My date suggested I order. Chicken Tandoori. I also saw that they had Tandoori veggies. So I asked could the tandoori chicken be put on top of the veggies. The waiter said no because it was an "Indian dish" and couldn't be altered. So then my partner asked if I could get a salad instead. The waiter again said no. So we looked at each other rather puzzled.
I ordered the tandoori chicken but later pulled the waiter to the side and expressed my concerns and again explained what I wanted. He then suggested 2 entree items that would satisfy my request. So I agreed. Then went back to the table and shared the changes with my date.
He agreed that the waiter's behavior was indeed "odd". He also found it strange that the restaurant doesn't have salad or offer sides. We still made the most of our time trying to find the humor in this very awkward situation. But it still left a BAD taste in my mouth! So much so that I'm writing this review a few weeks later. We definitely won't...
