As someone relatively new to the Detroit area, I was excited and intrigued to discover the presence of Middle Eastern coffee houses popping up across metro Detroit. Quawah, what I understand to be the original Middle Eastern coffee house in Detroit, is a wonderful experience on all levels and not to be missed. From the moment you step inside, you're transported into a warm, inviting world of flavors, coffee history and Yemeni cultural charm. The coffees, teas, and pastries at Quawah are extraordinaryâunlike anything I've ever tried before. Their spice profiles are a sensory magic, featuring: cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, nutmeg, and ginger, sometimes condensed milk. Writing from a Western perspective, I was fascinated by how the coffees are served in a manner akin to tea service, which adds a layer of elegance and intrigue to the experience. For those looking to share, both the coffee and teas can be ordered for one or more, with larger teapots available for totally unique shared experience. While their selection of Western and Middle Eastern pastries is wide-ranging and visually stunning, I strongly recommend trying the two traditional Yemeni cakes. These delicacies are an absolute must-try and pair perfectly with Quawah's coffee and tea offerings. Iâve introduced these cakes to two friends so far, and both were equally impressed and delighted. Unless you're craving a specific Western style pastry, it would be a shame to miss out on these traditional treats. The only area where Quawah could improve is in providing more guidance for customers who may not be familiar with the menu or the nuances of Middle Eastern coffee and tea culture. While the staff is incredibly welcoming, a bit more support in navigating the offerings would create a greater sense of inclusivity and help new patrons feel more confident in their choices.

I love Qahwah House! Came here by myself last week and just had to bring my boyfriend here a few days later:) This is a very authentic Yemeni cafe, has nice large windows, caring staff members, and great atmosphere. Qahwah has limited outlets and has free wifi available. Tends to be more busy/has less seats in the afternoon given how good their reviews are and how much people love coming here. Had a honeycomb bread, which was baked fresh when ordered. It's a slice of pie made up of little balls of cream cheese filled bread, baked to perfection, topped with sesame seeds and drizzled with honey. The bread has a light, fluffy texture and pairs very well with the cream cheese and slightly sour honey. There is also a savory version if you aren't looking for sweet bread! Also ordered a Yemeni iced latte. The latte was served in a cute glass mug, topped with whipped cream and a drizzle of honey. I ordered mine without the sugar and just with honey. The flavor of the latte itself really stood out and shone through with the honey and milk, and was a delicious cup of coffee in my opinion (was a little strong for me though! But I rarely drink coffee so that might be the reason?) When I visited this place with my boyfriend, we also ordered a piece of the chocolate layer cake. It looked dry and hard, but it tasted heavenly. The cake is soft and cloudy, and the chocolate was very rich and creamy. It is not too sweet, but it's so good. I still dream of this cake and I will definitely go back and try all the other cakes. Love this place. Highly recommend if you're looking to try something new!

When we saw the famous YouTuber Drew Binsky(First person to visit all the countries in the world) visit Qahwah House in one of his videos , we knew that we have to come here. As soon as we entered there is this unique but warm ambience about this place. There is a mixture of crowd with students doing their college work, families catching up for a cup of chai, friends meeting up . We went to the counter and ordered a small pot of Adeni Yemeni tea and a dessert called honeycomb. We had to wait for 5 mins for our order as the tea was being freshly brewed. We were presented with a beautiful pit of tea and delicious looking dessert. The Adeni chai is hands down the best tea you can get here in the states. The flavor, the smell and the taste are just excellent. Make sure you select the option of getting sugar added to your chai instead of adding it yourself later. The honeycomb was surprisingly good and fulfilling. Apart from the coffee shop, there is a huge outdoor seating space in the back side. We are so glad that we came here to get some chai. It truly is an experience here with the ambience, the yemeni heritage shown on the walls and menu itself. This will be our permanent fixture everytime we visit dearborn. For everyone else, this is a must visit place!

Qahwah House in Dearborn, Michigan, is one of the nicest Yemeni coffee spots Iâve had the pleasure of visiting. The moment you step inside, youâre transported straight to the heart of Yemen. The rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee and tea fills the air, making it clear that this isnât just another cafĂ©âitâs an experience. The authenticity of the flavors is undeniable; each sip feels like a journey through the bustling coffee houses of Yemen. The staff at Qahwah House are as warm and inviting as the drinks they serve. They were incredibly helpful, taking the time to recommend the best desserts to pair with our beverages. Their knowledge and enthusiasm added an extra layer of enjoyment to the visit. The location itself is spacious, with enough room to comfortably sit and savor your coffee while feeling like youâre back in the Middle East. The dĂ©cor and ambiance perfectly capture the essence of Yemeni culture, providing a welcoming space for both locals and visitors alike. Overall, Qahwah House is more than just a coffee shop; itâs a cultural experience that brings the flavors and hospitality of Yemen to Dearborn. Itâs a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy an authentic Yemeni coffee experience.

Review: A Hidden Gem for Yamami Coffee & Sweets Lovers If youâre a fan of rich, traditional Yamami coffee and have a sweet tooth to match, this spot is a must-visit. From the moment you walk in, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the sight of delicately prepared sweets transport you to a cozy cafĂ© somewhere in the heart of the Middle East. The Yamami coffee is bold, earthy, and brewed to perfection â a true reflection of heritage and craft. Itâs served hot, with just the right intensity to keep you coming back for more. Pair it with their signature date-filled pastries or saffron-infused sweets, and youâve got yourself an unforgettable treat.
