I am extremely disappointed with the service at Smiley’s Burger in Downtown Decatur. Parking isn’t ideal—Howard Street is always congested with limited parking—but we luckily found a spot right in front and decided to give it a try. We placed our order and even added an order of fried cheese curds after seeing other customers eating them.
The problems began when our food was mistakenly given to another customer. She left the restaurant, and the employee walked to her car to meet her with her order and then tried to bring it back to me. When I pointed out the mistake, the employee insisted he had called my wife’s name earlier. However, everyone around us agreed he hadn’t called her name at all.
I requested that my food be remade, as this was unsanitary and completely unacceptable. Instead of apologizing, the staff became defensive and rude. One employee even had the audacity to say, “I hope you never come back.”
For the $120 I spent—including gratuity—I expected better service, professionalism, and basic food safety. Instead, I received poor treatment, unsanitary practices, and outright disrespect. At these prices, there is no excuse for this level of incompetence.
Mistakes happen, but how they are handled is what matters, and Smiley’s Burger failed miserably. I will never return, and I strongly advise others to avoid this place. The high price is simply not worth the terrible...
Read moreI went to Smiley's because I was super excited to try one of the best burgers in the ATL area, and I have to admit I was underwhelmed. The service was fine/good(you order at a window and they bring your food), the spot was cute and I can see how it has appeal. But ultimately it comes down to how was the burger, how were the fries and was it worth it. The burger was decent, but a bit meh. It was smashed beyond belief and I'm guessing they don't splurge on Kraft singles for the American cheese slices. The sauce was your regular varietal 1000 Island and the fries - I left half of them there, which means I did not like them. My biggest disappointment was that I spent $46 for two doubles with fries and two Cokes and a small tip. I mean for a reference point, the Houston's burger that actually uses really really REALLY good meat with fries is $23. And Fred's Meat & Bread, which is a far superior burger cost $12. So more than anything I felt the collective burger experience was super overpriced. If the burger and fries had been more reasonably priced, I think I might have not been so disappointed. But as it stands, I likely won't make the trek again. I'll stick to my hood and go to Fred's...
Read moreI found Smiley Burger Club on social media and decided to give it a try with my good friend and I’m so glad we did! The staff was absolutely amazing and took the time to explain everything on the menu, which really made the experience even better.
The smash burgers were delicious perfectly cooked and full of flavor. We tried the cheese curds and smiley fries, both of which were super tasty and fresh. The pear cider was a pleasant surprise with a great flavor, and the grape slushie was something different but really good!
The place has a fun and unique vibe, especially with the baseball cards on display not sure what the story behind them is, but it’s definitely a cool different touch. There’s outdoor seating only, which was perfect for tonight’s nice weather, but I could see it being a bit tricky in colder or rainy weather.
The price was a bit up there because everything was a la carte. Cheese curds, smiley fries, one smashburger, one beer, one slushie came out to be $50.
Overall, Smiley Burger Club is a great little spot with amazing food, friendly staff, and a fun atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a quality burger and something a...
