Been here many times. Will not be back. As has always been the case anytime I have been here, or any place with bar seating (unless posted or unless a hostess tells you otherwise…both extremely rare) when a seat at the bar opens up, customers are free to take it. Today, after waiting in the squelching sun and as usual, watching it take forever for the cashier to take each order (clearly a tactic to slow down the flow, making the line take even longer), two seats opened up. We sat at them. As we have done countless times. Then in the snobbiest tone the lady behind the bar asked “are you on our list?” What list? Seriously, what list? I soon learned there was no list I could have been on. The list was made up of friends and regulars that the two ladies working that night were holding tables for. I said “no” with a question mark in my voice like “huh?” Clearly she knew I was aware of the rules here (that the bar is first come first served) and that there is no legitimate "list". So she let us stay and treated us like dirt the rest of the meal. If there was an actual wait list, she would have explained and asked us to move, and we would have. I saw so many people come up to sit around seats that opened-up near us, and they were turned away with “we have about 5 parties waiting ahead of you”. Yet virtually no one waiting. And again…since when is this the case at this place?! Since when do you have a wait list here? When someone did come up and take a seat (someone welcome by the ladies) they said nothing to them but brought them their exact drink without asking for an order or saying a word. I heard her tell the couple that was next to me (someone clearly on their "list"), with a laugh, that she had shewed away so many people for them and those exact seat (at the end of the bar so they could all three chat for long periods).
Your tacos are good. Your line is ridiculous. Your slow order taking is a joke. But that bar is always a hope to lessen those issues. And it has ALWAYS been first come first served. Absolutely nothing about tonight told me otherwise before I left the line upon seeing the seats open up. No sign. Nothing on your website to get added to a list. But the complete snobbery that came with our meal (as well as a piece of steel wool that I did not make a fuss about but brought politely to the attention of one of the snobs so that it could be addressed in the back, for safety purposes) is something I am so over. There is a small population of Atlanta restaurants that employ snobs who forget that they work for tips, who act too cool, but who are not cool at all. I hope your boss reads this and puts an end to your little hustle of letting friends and regulars get seats while turning others away. Customer lost. One that ALWAYS (except for today, that is for...
Read moreWon’t ever be back. This was my first time visiting the place. Me and my fiancé and our 5 month old son decided to have a night so we wanted to try this place because of the location and reviews looked good. First issue is that you have to park in the back of the restaurant and there is barely any parking and it’s tight but that’s mostly all of Atlanta. You have to walk around the entire building to get to the front and the “lobby” front area is super tiny and crammed. There were only like two people in line ahead of us and we felt like we were standing in everyone’s way. There are no signs or anyone to greet you so if it’s your first time there you won’t know where to go. My main issue was with a rude female bartender. She is fairly short compared to the other bartenders there, she had brown hair. Since there were no signs, it was packed and confused I saw a menu sitting on the bar, I grabbed it and proceeded to look over it which showed $3 per tiny taco and only a few things on the menu, my fiancé grabbed it to look as well so I went to grab another and that specific bartender rudely put another one down with silverware on it onto the table where I took one and said to me verbatim “this is for people sitting at the bar, you can get one over there” as if she was irritated I removed a menu from her area and pointed me away to go across the room, through people to a hidden stand, facing another direction with menus on it (I would have never seen it other wise and no one told me and there were no signs to point customers there plus it was hidden by everyone being crammed into a line at the front door....... funny thing is she just lost customers in that moment because how did she know I didn’t want to sit at the bar? And it’s not like there were a line of ppl needing that specific menu. She didn’t smile, nothing, walked off and leaned against the back of the bar where her and the other bartender proceeded to start texting on their phones while the restaurant is busy. Me being a customer service manager, if that was my employee I would have fired her on the spot. Probably one of THE MOST rude interactions I have ever received. Like since she didn’t think I would be HER customer at the bar I was worth less than other customers. With that first initial interaction honestly I wanted to act out of character and tell her she was a b** but instead we just left. She clearly didn’t want to make money that night and lost potential customers because when we like a spot we go back. We went down the street to a restaurant that had wayyy better service AND (guess what) ordered drinks and spent $70 there :) Honestly the whole experience was a waste of time...
Read moreI'm so disappointed in my recent visit to what used to be one of my favorite hangouts! I have been supporting Taqueria Del Sol (Decatur location) for almost a decade now. I absolutely love their fish tacos and shrimp corn chowder. The service is quick, the margaritas are good and the food is filling and cost effective. This place has been my go to for friendly outings, girl's nights out and quick lunch with my children or husband. So, I'm heartbroken that they have chosen to hire a racist, ignorant, self-serving blowhole to manage their restaurant. I will not be going back until he is gone. I work very hard to be sure that his fired. His managerial skills are below subpar and I truly think he's a racist jerk who doesn't like the sight of people that don't look like him. I sat and watched how nice and accommodating he was to the white customers but yelled at my friends and I and told us we were trying to get over when we asked if a member of our party could place an order vs standing in the extremely long line. We had already ordered our food and waiting on her to get to the counter would cause us to have cold food on our hands. The way he handled us was hurtful and cruel! He should not be allowed to work in, what I thought to be, a lovely, quaint, family-oriented, neighborhood hangout. My friends and I work very hard for our money, and we deserve the same treatment as anyone else. I honestly felt like we had been time warped back to the 1960s. I am not sure if anyone will read this or find it helpful, but I would not feel right if I spent my money there or stepped foot in that establishment while that demon is managing it. I'll either visit the other two locations or simply find another place to hang out...
