I left a review and nobody called me to discuss this. It’s just a show. This so called fine dining experience is a shame. The Gms to the AGMs do not care. If you did you would of responded to me two VM and my email that you asked me to contact you. Again horrible
The restaurant is nice. Inside is very lovely. The food is good. The staff however need to be trained on how to serve guest. Our experience was below par and definingly not worth the 22%-25% tip that is recommended. Let me start from the beginning. We sit down and the waiter doesn't give his name. Then ask if we have been here before and we said "No, we have not" He then replies "This will be fun" and completely walks away and turns to the other table to ask how there food is. He never comes back to finish the conversation with us and takes 10min before he comes back to ask if we would like to order dinner. He was so unfriendly and not warm. He should of been proud to have us and explain that the restaurant has other locations and he is so excited that they are now in Delray. Nothing was said! We definitely did not feel welcomed. Looking around I notice other waitstaff smiling and laughing with other tables. Doesn't go over the menu or explain the concept. Its like he was hired off the street. Doesn't offer us a cocktail or wine. We had to initiate this. My mother asked for a margarita and he tell us "they can make it because they don't have a blender". I said "you don't need a blender to make a margarita2. He says "Yes you do because margaritas come frozen". That was the first red flag. Seriously, you have a full bar and your a waiter who doesn't know how a margarita made..WOW! Then my mother ask for a straw. Which took another ten minutes to arrive. Zero attention to us. At the end of our horrible dining experience he brings the check and comes back in 2min asking for the "Booklet he dropped off". Completely rushing us out and that was very rude. I'm not obligated to tip you the so called recommend percentage that is printed on the receipt. The tip comes from providing a wonderful experience.
Then we go to the bar to have a night cap and the bartender greets us with "What's up" unbelievable, How about greeting guest with "Welcome, What can I get for you". I don't think I will come back to this place. While we are in the bar area. The lady comes to our table to remove the flowers. Seriously...When you have guest let them enjoy their evening. I stay late at work to accommodate my client because that's what you do. We left at 10:20pm. You do not need to start closing and removing items from the table in front of paying guest and there where people in the bar it was not just us. The training comes from the top. Just because you have a nice uniform doesn't mean you know what your doing. They look the part but don't perform well. If this is what you call fine dining. You have never been to a fine...
Read moreThis was my second dine at Le Colonial, and in some respects, I was less impressed than the first. We experienced a meal which was somewhat amateurishly "presented", an expression that they use to describe the Le Colonial "experience". Our server, "N", was sweet, but not engaged in servicing our table after she took the order. And her explanations of some of the dishes were far from what we got. The appetizers of cha gio and chicken dumplings were outstanding. I WOULD ORDER THOSE AGAIN. Two of the three main plates were very disappointing. The chicken curry had a scant amount of chicken, and the vegetables were mushy. THE CURRY WAS NOT MILD, AS requested, and its flavor overwhelmed the dish. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND, even if a curry lover.
THE GREEN SHRIMP CURRY was equally disappointing. THE SHRIMP WERE SMALLISH, TOUGH TO EAT, much chewing required AND AGAIN THE CURRY overwhelmed the dish. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND AND WOULD NOT RE-ORDER, ESPECIALLY at $35.
The stand-out hit was the BRONZINO. A WHOLE FISH, filet in the kitchen, after being shown to us table-side. IT WAS MEATY, TASTY, COOKED TO PERFECTION, AND EVEN AT $57, would be my reason to return. Two people can easily share the bronzino, two appetizers, and one dessert, and be satisfied.
THE MARTINIS WERE WELL MADE, AND THE BAR SHOULD BE RECOGNIZED FOR their perfect mixology. RETURNING TO SERVICE, i had to ask for a bowl for the bones in the bronzino, and the banana wrap for the sticky rice. When it did not come, I put the bon and banana leaf on the table, which was unappealing, for sure.
The host or maybe the manager on duty at the entry upon arrival and departure was abrupt, no smile or half a smile, made no eye contact, While their role is not to entertain guests on arrival -perhaps a bit of a welcome or good night when you depart?
And let me not forget, when making the reservation on Open Table I specified that one of the diners was having her 80th birthday, and when calling the afternoon of our reservation I was told that they had a note in the reservation about the birthday, and a candle would be placed in whatever dessert we ordered and the plate would show Happy Birthday on it.. Well, none of that happened. A break in communications between the staff. Disappointing "performance on their behalf." Would I return? YES. But with much lower expectations and a better...
Read moreDisappointed and dangerous. We loved this place in Chicago and San Francisco and were excited for it to open here. That’s where the excitement ends. Started by making a reservation and they asked about any allergies in the party, I did say we had my wife who can’t have any sauce or processed foods, and a plain grilled fish would work. When we showed up, they mentioned the dress code violations and to make note for next time. Should have left at this point. Then we explained the allergy and ordered a mocktail with just the butterfly pea tea and no syrup or lemon. The bartender refused to make it. Im so confused, it’s less work, why refuse to serve a tea? Baffling response. Only thing my wife could drink was water because of this. Then ordered a plain grilled salmon, of course it came sitting in a bed of miso sauce. They took it back and brought the same fish on a clean plate. It bothered my wife’s allergies because it still had been blanched in sauce, she barely ate it. They are happy to tell you they care about allergies upfront, then their kitchen decides to be ignorant and rude creating a dangerous situation. What if she ate more believing there wasn’t sauce and had an attack. Lawsuit city, but for them who cares. Ego over customer. It didn’t stop there. My parents both ordered bouillabaisse. To their surprise it came loaded with scallops, which were not even listed on the menu in the dish. Shellfish being an allergy this could be a massive liability too. Lucky for them my parents only dislike scallops instead of having an allergy. Worst part was when the manager called out the kitchen for scallops, they tried to gas light us saying it was the squid. That’s twice we were gaslit on our food. Excuse me but we are smart enough to know what sauce is and what a freaking scallop is. The only saving Grace of this place was the super nice waitress. I feel bad she had to be the middle person for a failed management and kitchen. We were offered no discounts no apologies and felt like management couldn’t care less for the trouble. Nice atmosphere, good flavors, wrong management. In this area, you got way better options than to waste money here. Unless you like being treated like a high end country club that normal folk...
