Food and coffee are both delicious and ambience is adorable. However, if you have an allergy I would say do NOT come here. After careful review of my food intake and coming here twice, I have realized I became extremely ill likely from cross contamination or being given the wrong product. Gave it a second shot hoping it was a fluke. But now, I’m trying to save someone else with true celiac disease/gluten allergy/lactose intolerance from ending up violently ill like I did, twice. As I said earlier, if you DON’T have allergies this place is great. But save yourself from the torture if you have an allergy. Servers thought popcorn had gluten in it but then said everything “should” be fine. I am not confident in the employees ability to understand how devastating it can be to a customer by not following proper allergen protocols. I eat out often and go to other coffee shops without an issue. I mentioned this to the social media page privately and felt like I got brushed off with an “are you sure” and saw another recent review mentioning the same exact symptoms and issues with a lactose allergy. My family and I are visiting from New Jersey and of course the first thing I did was search up the closet matcha from the opal resort and this place came up! Right when my sister and I walked in we were greeted by not only by the amazing baristas but the fun decor as well. At the register the barista was very friendly (unfortunately I forgot his name). When we said this was our first time here he took us through the menu and pointed out their drink specials. I do have a gluten allergy and the barista was nice enough to bring out the matcha bag to check to see if it was gluten safe! (It was) It was so hard to choose from all the fun matcha flavors but both my sister and I settled on the strawberry and cream matcha. I ordered mine without the strawberry cold foam bc I usually don't drink dairy and just had the matcha with almond milk and the strawberry syrup it was amazing! I ordered 2 chicken empanadas and was given beef instead. Had to run all the way back to let them know they messed up my order and the employee was very careless. Didn’t apologize. He made me give back the wrong order to him instead of just letting me keep it since it was his mistake. He recooked the chicken like I asked for. Then I realized he only gave me one when I paid for 2. I had to wait to let him know of that again. He rudely just handed me it and said “sorry.” As a customer service worker myself, I could never be this unbothered when I make mistakes with customers like that. He could have at least pretended to care or feel bad since it was his fault. They also still don’t offer workers discounts for people who work on Atlantic Ave which is weird since every other business offers it. it’s also very overpriced food but it’s the closest one to my job so I have no other options. $6 with tax just for one 3 inch...
