I don’t live in Florida anymore, but I still think about my last experience at Two Fat Cookies — and not in a good way.
Short version: I strongly recommend against ordering custom cookies from this bakery. While the designs were beautiful, the quality and customer service were incredibly disappointing.
Long version: If you’re still reading, buckle up — because this experience stuck with me three years later.
My history with Two Fat Cookies goes back to 2014 when we ordered a Bar Mitzvah cake. I attended a tasting at their original location, and everything — from the cake to the customer service — was excellent. The cake at the party? Absolutely unforgettable. Gorgeous, delicious, and a total hit with our guests. So, naturally, we returned in 2019 for a wedding cake. The tasting at their new location wasn’t great — the cake didn’t taste as good — but the staff was kind and accommodating, so we decided to give them another shot. The wedding cake looked beautiful but didn’t live up to the magic of the first one, which was disappointing.
Then came the custom cookie disaster of 2021 — my final straw with this business. I was helping plan a baby shower and was asked (not by choice) to use Two Fat Cookies for custom umbrella-shaped cookies with floral decorations and “Thank You” written on them. The price was steep — around $13–$15 per cookie — and I asked if I could sample one beforehand. They said no, which already felt like poor customer service. I was also charged for an umbrella-shaped cookie cutter they needed to order — another red flag. The person on the phone seemed disorganized and unsure of what she was doing, which made me uneasy. I wanted to cancel, but since I’d been asked to go with them, I moved forward.
I asked specifically if any form of branding or advertising would be on the packaging — I did not want stickers or logos on such expensive cookies. I was assured they would be individually wrapped in clear packaging with ribbon only — no branding.
They told me they’d call for a final count on a specific date. That date passed with no call. I followed up myself and provided the final number. If you promise to follow up with a customer, you should actually do it.
On pickup day, the cookies were visually pretty. The floral detail was nice, and while the “Thank You” writing varied — some looked fine, others were sloppy — they generally looked okay. But then I turned them over and saw it: cheap clip-art style logo stickers, crookedly slapped on the back of every cookie.
I immediately asked for a manager. I explained that I was explicitly told there would be no branding. The response I got was appalling. The manager was incredibly rude, condescending, and passive-aggressively mocked me to the front staff — while I was standing right there. She even asked why I wouldn’t want to support a small business. Frankly, after that treatment, why would I?
They took the cookies back to remove the stickers, but I refused to go in the next day to pick them up — I was so disgusted by the experience that I asked a relative to handle it.
To top it all off, the cookies didn’t even taste good. Definitely not worth the hassle, stress, or price.
Please think twice before using this business, especially for special events. I wouldn’t wish this...
Read moreI just went into their store for the first and sadly, the LAST time. I called ahead this morning to check on their cake availability and ran right up there once I heard that a few were available! I walked in and said, “wow! Look how adorable!” and mentioned that it was my first time there as I stood looking and admiring all the party accessories (I was about to purchase). The super kind gentlemen behind the counter joked that we had something in common as it was his first day working there! Then, I asked for the sprinkle cake and a few other items in their display case and without exaggeration, all of the sudden, things got nasty. The owner and her daughter took turns walking from back to front to essentially yell at myself and a handful of other innocent walk-in customers who were simply trying to spend money in their overpriced little store. Turns out, the power has gone out for a whopping 10-20 minutes MAX, but it clearly sent the owners into the most unprofessional, world-ending tailspin. I stood in shock as they snapped at myself and others, refusing to open (ie. SELL, ya know, the reason they’re in business!) the cold case which houses their overpriced goods. Any decent local bakery employee let alone OWNERS would be apologetic or ask to please check back later (or if they were a good business owner, they’d come up with another resolution in order to accommodate your customers and make those sales). Ha! Nope, not here! They couldn’t stop huffing and puffing, and rolling their eyes at me for SHOPPING IN THEIR STORE aka SPENDING MONEY! To no surprise, the power flipped right back on, and Ricardo was so kind in assisting me spend $150 on cakes, cupcakes, napkins, etc... If it weren’t a last minute “cake emergency”, I would’ve walked out in the first 2 minutes. So sad that I went out of my way to support our community and shop locally, only to be treated like an inconvenience by miserable shop owners. Find another local spot - these people don’t deserve...
Read moreThis is sweet central! I mean really though, the options live up to the name. There were so many different cookies, cupcakes, and bars to choose from and they ALL just sounded delicious and I wanted to try- just like the sign says in one of the pictures below haha. Luckily, a really nice man working there (I forget his name) who is from the Virgin Islands was happy to tell us more about the options and he had the most colorful descriptions of the cookies and it was super helpful, he was so awesome and we really enjoyed talking to him. We ended up picking the oatmeal sandwich cookie and the gingersnap cookie. They were both really yummy! The gingersnap was definitely my favorite, it had a bright pop of ginger in it and it was just delicious and really perfect with a cup of coffee. The oatmeal one was good, but not my favorite Ive had. The cream inside it was perfect, but the cookie to me wasn’t soft enough for a cookie sandwich, but really that’s more personal preference. Two Fat Cookies also has a cute coffee/ cafe area that was closed by the time we went, so I definitely want to come back to try more treats and get some coffee too! This place won’t...
