The true story of us and Mr. Pickle
My wife and I would eat at this McDonald's location.
Now, in the past, McDonald's used to put on 4 thick pickle slices on a burger. Then it was 3. Then it was 3 skinny ones, that look like they've been cut by a laser. Now it's 2 skinny ones. This is about 1/4 what they used to give you.
How cheap can you get? (Don't worry, I will get to Mr. Pickle soon!)
Well, I like the way it used to be, so, if I'm willing to put up with the hassle (I wasn't always willing), I'd ask for extra pickle slices. I'd learned, through bad experience, that I had to ask for them in a special way, or I'd only get 1 or 2.
If I asked for extra pickle slices on a burger, I'd get 1 or 2. If I asked for lots of pickle slices on a burger, I'd still only get 1 or 2. If I asked for pickle slices on the side, in a cup, I'd get 2 or 3, even though the cup holds a lot more. If I asked for lots of pickle slices in a cup, I'd get 3 or 4. All far less than I used to get. So I was forced to ask for 12 pickle slices in a cup, or they would short me EVERY SINGLE TIME.
This time, I asked for 2 cups, 1 for each of us. Well, the incompetent woman cashier ARGUED with me about it. I went back and forth with her about it, repeatedly asking for the 2 cups of pickles, with people backed up behind us. Finally I told her to ask her manager. After a long time, she came back and said we could have 2 cups.
I thought, "GEEZ! How ridiculous!"
Now, understand, at another chain's competitor of theirs, I can ask for a cup of pickle slices, and I get a nice, big cup of pickle slices with no hassle, suitable for 2 people.
So my wife and I went outside to eat. I thought, "Thank God that's over!". This man came out, and sat down, without asking, at our table. It turns out he was the franchise owner of this location. My wife and I call him Mr. Pickle.
Well, Mr. Pickle indignantly proceeded to give us, unbidden, a 20 minute lecture on pickles; something we did not want or ask for, WHILE we were eating. This is just unbelievably rude, and horribly insulted and angered my wife. I was greatly annoyed.
Sometime during this conversation with Mr. Pickle, I realized, that the incompetent woman cashier, who should have NEVER been allowed at the register, and who should have known better, had gotten it in her head, that we were asking for 24 CUPS of pickle slices, instead of 12 pickles slices in each of 2 cups, which I correctly said many times. My wife can corroborate this. The incompetent woman cashier JUST DIDN'T LISTEN to me at all, even though I asked for the correct thing over and over!
Although, that didn't really matter. Mr. Pickle was OBVIOUSLY mad about us even getting 2 cups of pickle slices, something that his other chain's competitor does as a matter of course, without argument or hassle. Mr. Pickle was only grudgingly and barely willing to give the 2 cups, and plainly did not want to do even that.
Well, I have news for Mr. Pickle. At the dollar store I'd get a whole bottle of 50 pickle slices for $1. HOWEVER, they were thick cut, and the equivalent of 150 McDonald's pickle slices. SO, those 24 pickles slices we asked for, were about 16¢ retail. BUT, Mr. Pickle buys them wholesale in 5 gallon buckets! The 24 pickle slices cost Mr. Pickle about a nickel, 5¢.
SO, let's tally it up! Mr. Pickle wasted 20 minutes of his time; being the franchise owner, $40, and quite probably a lot more. His incompetent cashier, wasted 10 minutes of time, with customers backed up in line, for a total of about $3. 30 minutes of my wife's and my time? Priceless!
SO, Mr. Pickle WASTED $43; ALL OVER 5¢, a nickel's, worth of pickles!
GOOD JOB, Mr. Pickle!
Mr. Pickle, the McDonald's location over at Coal Mine & Pierce, went belly-up, by hiring incompetent register staff, JUST LIKE YOU!
My wife and I don't eat at Mr. Pickle's place anymore. And I've found it's better not to even MENTION Mr. Pickle to my wife! In fact, we're so insulted and turned off by the whole thing, that we don't even eat at McDonald's anymore!
GOODBYE FOREVER...
Read moreI’ve left reviews on this specific Mcdonald’s numerous times before, and i find myself coming back every time because it just gets worse and worse. To begin, the attitude of the employees, specifically the lady manager with a strong accent, is completely uncalled for. She gets offended extremely easily, and makes it impossible to even ask for something simple like a side of sauce. It is an ongoing battle with her every time our group walks into the restaurant. She is unwilling to work out her issues with us, and she results to kicking us out, and flipping us off as we drive away. The service is awful here, it’s impossible to get the attention of any worker, and they seem to simply just ignore you. I am especially mad, due to a medical situation that occurred to a friend of mine at this location. While my friend was having a seizure, i tried to walk up to the drive through to get a large water to help ease my friend (the inside of the store was closed). After asking, the employee looked offended, and started arguing about how i need a car to go through the drive through, and must pay for the water. I explained there is a medical issue going on and i just need a glass of water. Multiple cars had asked us during this situation if my friend was okay, everyone was fully aware that there was an issue at hand. The only reason i recieved the water in the end was due to a very nice family purchasing the water for me. I did not have my phone or card to pay for the water myself, and wasn’t able to leave to go find it. It’s a completely unpleasant time when going here, and i hope they intend to change...
Read moreWhile I normally get good service at this location. Last night I wasn't happy with the drive through person that was taking my order last night. This store was out of softdrinks last night 4/29/21. Upon being greater the young lady told me to wait. I wasted a couple minutes then she came back I asked if they were not serving soft drinks as the sign said. I was about to start ordering my meal when she told me to wait again. Again returning after a couple minutes I went on to order hamburgers and fries. Then I asked if they had Iced Tea. She said yes so I decided to make it a meal so I asked for a #1 with a large iced tea and medium fry with a hamburger and an additional fry. She told me my order was $19 and some change so I realized they had my order wrong so I said this is wrong and asked to see my full order. She said it's there with some attitude in her voice. Then I said this is wrong and needed it correct. Again she told me to hold on and left. When she came back she had a poor attitude again with me so I decided to leave. So I would recommend that if a customer seems a bit frustrated, please ask for a manager to help correct the order and not place blame on the customer who is asking to get the order corrected. Please train new employees to handle situations like this so the customer can be assured that they'll do everything they can do to make the order right. I hope this was a one time thing. If not I will take my business...
