This business is a decent "old fashioned" ice cream shop inside the Denver Union Station building. It is located in the southwest corner of the building and you can enter from the outdoor patio on the west side, or go through the coffee shop from the inside public seating area.
This ice cream shop has a good variety of ice cream flavors, some non-dairy (I believe), perhaps 15 or more flavors. I overheard the flavors can change hourly and there is no schedule for when a particular flavor is available. So count your luck if you find your favorite from this shop!
There are cone options and of course different size cones and bowls. Prices were OK, especially for a touristy location. My only complaint might be the ice cream was not cold and well on its way to melting (on a hot July day).
Service was great. They treated customers well and addressed customers’ questions and concerns despite the long line out the door.
My son and I hung out at the train station with our ice cream to watch people and trains. There are tables and old station benches available for sitting. Actually there is a wide variety of seating arrangements and accommodations. If you are meeting anyone downtown, this would be a great place. Although it can get busy. Don’t forget there is seating just outside the shop on an outdoor patio as well by the station fountain.
Milkbox is a great treat and a nice excuse to visit...
Read moreTotally forgot to leave a review and just had a craving for ice cream…all I had was vanilla and it sparked my memory lol My partner and I visited Denver back in October ‘22. We kept walking by this ice cream place so on our last day, we stopped in. Such a cute lil place :) I was excited to try some of their unique flavors to see which one I’d like as a full scoop (I usually will try 2, sometimes 3 flavors at ice cream shops…I’m neurodiverse so if the texture or flavor of something is off, I won’t eat it) so anyway, I had asked to try two flavors (can’t remember which ones) and the girl said, “sorry you are only allowed to try one.” I ended up not liking the flavor I tasted so I was like ‘wtf…how am I supposed to know which one to pick if I didn’t like the ONE flavor I tasted?!’ So I played it safe and just ordered a scoop of vanilla :/ so my question is: why does this ice cream place only allow one sample? I ended up walking out of there whispering to my partner that it wasn’t the best vanilla I’ve had (I’m also spoiled and always have Acme Vanilla ice cream at home (110% recommend) so yes I was biased lol. I just wish I could’ve sampled the second flavor I was eyeing. So anywho, if you happen to be in Denver and are craving ice cream, I recommend finding a place that will let you sample at least two flavors

The only reason this isn't a 5 is because a 5 is reserved for my true favourite ice cream places; the ones I've been to many many times and never been disappointed: the Parlour in Durham, Jeni's splendid Ice creams in st. Louis, and maybe the milk bar in nyc (but I don't really think of milk bar as an ice cream place, hence the maybe. Milk bar is more of a great dessert place - they don't specialise in ice cream). But I ramble.
Milk box is a cute little ice cream shop in Denver's Union station, and I loved every flavour I tried: salted Oreos, salted caramel pb, banana pudding, and a cinnamony one. They let you mix flavours within a single scoop and charge you by volume, which I think is a great thing is you want many flavours but don't necessarily want to eat that much ice cream. The flavours are often rotated and every one of them is well balanced and beautifully crafted. They also have a decent proportion of vegan and gf options. I will give this a 5 if I end up visiting Denver again and I feel the same way when I go to milkbox. I also would have liked them to have a larger selection of...
