I choose Mt. Fuji over Benihana based upon the reviews on google. Mt. Fuji shockingly had a better rating. We had reservations for a party of 9 at 6pm on a Saturday. All but 2 of us arrived together at 5:58 and two were 5 minutes late. They said they could not seat us until our party was all present (typical for most hibachi grills). They finally sat us around 6:15 after being packed into a small lobby area with two other large parties.
When they took us to our grill they were still cleaning up the last party and a mother with her two children were still getting ready to leave. We had to wait uncomfortably while they rushed her out of the grill area. We all sat down and ordered our drinks and food. I will give them credit that the food was good (other then the noodles). Those of us who ordered the grill got our food together as expected. My wife who ordered vegetable sushi, did not receive her meal until 10 minutes after the grill was done.
After the chef left, the staff hovered like vultures trying to clear our table as we ate. I had my one month old daughter in tow and was slow to eat and finish my drink. They kept asking if they could take my plate. The checks came and everyone paid while we finished eating and drinking (we were not even done when they brought the check).
After the bills were paid and I was finishing my food and last of my beer, we were told we would could finish our food/drinks in the main dining area with the regular tables and that we had to leave the grill.
This was by far the rudest experience I have had at a restaurant in the Denver area. After leaving the restaurant we discussed the check with my sister in law, who picked it up. It turns out we were charged $2 more for the beer and $8.95 for a class of wine that was listed at $6.95.
I would guess that happens to many people who don't really inspect their bill.
For the fact that we were asked to leave our table while still having food and drinks, I would NOT recommend...
Read moreWorst experience ever, might as well say you close at 9pm. When we first walked in, it was 9 o’clock. I understand they close at 10. The young man whose hair looks like it is balding in one asked how many, we said three, he told us to just sit down with no explanation. Our third friend was running late. We were sitting there for about 15 mins until I asked if he was waiting for our friend to get there and he said yea, you guys want hibachi right? And my friend said yes and I was like wait he didn’t even ask us in the beginning what we were there for. So I was like oh okay then we can do hibachi, I thought hibachi would’ve been closed since it was an hour to closing. Then we found out our friend was running late and they were starting to side eye us, I told them we didn’t have to do hibachi if that was the hold up and they sat us. If I would have known ahead of time they’re closing their kitchen 30-45 mins early then we would’ve tried to sit at the table. Once we got sat we were asked to hurry up because the kitchen was closing and I was like why were we not made aware of that?? We would have left or gotten the table. I then was over it and just told the balding gentleman that it would have been nice if he would have told us what the deal was from the start. He then proceeded to argue with me, refused to give me his name. He was just rude from start we went in there. I just don’t understand why you say you close at 10 and start rushing us at 9:15 because the kitchen is closing at 9:30. I asked why they were open until 10 and they said they need time to close??? As someone who used to work in the restaurant industry, the kitchen didn’t close till closing time. I have a video of the fella because he started claiming I was trying to make him look bad. And I told him don’t victimize yourself, you have us terrible service to begin with. Anyways, I will be posting the video on all social media platforms. I hope the owner takes these reviews seriously. That...
Read moreOnly reason this place gets a 4-star in Service is due to Jose and the Busser that helped us.
As a frequent supporter of small business, I rarely write negative reviews. Nevertheless, my family's frequent visits to celebrate special occasions, such as birthdays, anniversaries or family dinners, Mt Fuji has always been our go to. Last night's birthday celebration for our friend was enhanced by Jose's exceptional skills and warm hospitality. The busser ensured seamless service as well, although I did not catch his name. He ensured our needs were met. However, the manager, who I believe is named Sol or Solo, publicly reprimanded the busser in front of our party for being attentive to our needs. We had limited interactions with our waitress as we only saw her at the beginning, maybe once in the middle of our drinks and then at the end of our dinner when she asked how we were going to divide our checks. Consequently, we relied on the busser for additional request, such as napkins, water, sauce, and assistance in locating our waitress to order more drinks. Mr. Manager then informed chef Jose that another party of 2 was waiting, while our party consisted of 9 individuals. How do I know this? Because Mr. Manager said it loud enough for my entire party to hear. The manager seemed irritated that chef Jose was taking too long to engage with our party. I found it unprofessional for the manger to address these issues with his employees in front of customers. Towards the end of our dinner, our entire party felt uncomfortable requesting assistance from the busser or Jose due to the manager's public reprimand. Mt. Fuji, I encourage you to improve your service. Reprimanding your employees in front of customers is NEVER okay...
