Vesper Lounge — Restaurant in Denver

My one star review is specifically because of the bartender, Jake, who has managed to run off a handful of regulars I know including me. The food, drinks and ambiance there are all good and why I was a regular there for so long. I don’t know why Jake is a bartender; the job requires you to be friendly to customers- even when you don’t like them. I joked lightheartedly a few times with and about a really drunk guy sitting next to me at the bar and Jake snapped at me. He’s snapped at me various times before today as well as I’ve been witness to him doing the same to other customers over the years I’ve gone there and I always ignored it because I like going to Vesper. It’s not the customers’ fault that he’s unhappy. Perhaps he should consider other career paths that don’t involve interacting with people because he clearly doesn’t like them. I guess there’s a reason he’s kept around when he acts like this, but someone who’s like that is bad...

I stopped by Vesper Lounge on Sunday for the burger and beer special. I was dining alone and placed my order with the server. After waiting 45 minutes, I asked for an update and was told, “it should be out soon.” Meanwhile, I watched several other tables who arrived after me get their food, finish eating, and leave.

Another 30 minutes passed before the server informed me that my ticket never went through. He said the food would be out shortly, and I waited yet another 30 minutes before it finally arrived.

As someone who works in the service industry, I understand mistakes happen but waiting over an hour and a half for a burger, with no proactive communication until I asked, reflects poorly on the service. The server walked past me several times without checking in, which made the experience even more frustrating.

Unfortunately, I can’t recommend Vesper Lounge based...

Laid back place. Good food, good drinks. Great prices. Service is slower but usually nice. We usually really enjoy this place and its atmosphere. I would have given it 5 stars, as it’s a hidden gem. My husband had a negative experience with the kitchen staff last time we were there. He was waiting on the waiter to ask for an extra side of sauce. He was running around busy with other customers and his food was getting cold. One of the cooks looked extremely unbusy since he was watching tv from the kitchen so he thought it would be easier on the busy waiter, and more efficient (since he had already been waiting to eat his food for a while) if he would just ask the cook. He was unnecessarily rude and obnoxious about it. It’s an extra side of sauce... not like we were returning food or complaining. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Not sure if we will...
