In the criminal justice system, deli-based offenses are considered especially heinous. In Denver, CO the dedicated sandwich enthusiasts who investigate these issues are members of an elite squad known as the Sandwich Victims Unit. These are their stories.
(Theme song plays)
February 18th, 12:15pm- The victim ordered a sub with extra pickles. Upon biting in to the sandwich, the victim was shocked to realize that the pickles were, in fact, raw cucumber slices.
It goes without saying that substituting the flavor of salt and vinegar for the taste of fresh plant matter is one of the most egregious flavor crimes a deli can commit. If this was New York, that deli would be shut down by the afternoon, and burned down by an angry mob in the evening.
This is Denver though, where deli crimes run rampant, and the streets are never safe from thoughtless substitutions. Investigators are working to determine if this problem affects other Snarf’s shops, but until justice is served, we recommend all people that appreciate quality sandwiches avoid this hotbed of flavor...
Read moreI had always seen snarfs around and decided to get it on my lunch break. I asked the cashier if they recommended the veggie or eggplant parm and they said they were “out of the veggie”. What does that even mean? You done have provolone? No substitute just “out”. So I got the eggplant for almost 20$. It had 2 or 3 pieces of small, undercooked, stiff AF pieces of eggplant and a bit of cheese and sauce. I couldn’t even bite through the eggplant and had to take the last piece out because it was like chewing on leather. I paid almost 20$ For marinara bread. I was so pumped too because it’s right next to the job I’m on tow the next few months. Sadly I’ll be going to subway for my sandwiches or make the farther trip to jimmy johns. Louis Italian deli had a killer eggplant parm if you can make the trek to five point. Anyhow. Hate leaving bad reviews but snarfs was probably one of the biggest food let downs I’ve had in...
Read moreAwful experience. I understand with opening up a new location there are growing pains, but the lack of service was disappointing. I came in with a Snarf's gift card and for about 20 minutes no one could figure out how to run in. Then, they asked me for a card and it took them another 10 minutes to try and run my card. I was shocked when they didn't comp our meal because of their lack in training. During this time, all the employees were standing around and our sandwiches didn't get made. It took over 30 minutes for them to start making our sandwiches which resulted in me having to pay despite having a gift card. I was told "sorry dude" when I expressed my frustrations. Advice to management: Train employees on customer service. Because of this interaction I will not be back to this location and I advise you have plenty of time to wait...
