Well, isn't this a hidden secret? I say that because we discovered the food AND happy hour. We even did separate trips for each. Both are worth going to solo or combined. I am not even the biggest Mediterranean food fan. But, the wife talked me into going, and I was floored with the excellence. So I had the Pita Sando #3. You get three options for content. Let me first just say that the portions are luxuriously huge. Wife had the chicken harissa and loved it. We also shared the hummus. She did the vegetables, I did the delicious pita bread. Their open air cooler is WAY cold. Great staff. Counter service, and it seems easy accessible to go back up for the OTHER part. The Happy Hour. If ever in the area of this adorable street and aren't even hungry, just swing by. Great pricing. Wine is half priced, craft draft beer is $5 (varies), and Peroni's are $3.50. Definitely recommend, and see you there. I have to add a brunch review, as it was our first time doing that here... We had been here for the great lunch/dinner food, but found out they did breakfast too. What a great call. Counter-service, great vibe, indoor seating with a couple of outdoor seats. I am providing more pics on this review. I got the breakfast lamb, egg, and cheese sandwich, and wife had the breakfast bowl. We each loved our choice, and they were totally different styles. My sandwich was messy beyond all belief, but the awesome deliciousness overcame any problem of multiple napkins. I will be back for that particular item. It is counter service, and they have various bottled drinks. We got two kinds of kombucha (blackberry and strawberry basil I think?) and they were unique and delicious. We even got hummus to go since my wife loves it a LOT. They didn't have hot sauce during my visit, but they typically do. Neat little block to walk, and they leave dog treats outside, as an example of their attention to detail for customers. Don't forget that they have a happy hour with great drink specials too. They are two for two with my visits personally, and I will definitely be back. I highly recommend you stopping in, and see you there...

This is only the second time that I’ve been so worked up after having a meal that I’ve had to go and write a review. I don’t like leaving bad reviews, but I just feel like the reviews are very misleading. We did a takeout order and got two pita sandwiches and a salad with chicken for around $70. We added fries to the sandwiches and assumed that was going to be a side of fries to eat with the sandwich, but it’s actually about 10 fries added to the sandwich. Not worth the $3. That was upsetting, but what really made me upset was my husband’s salad. The salad itself is around $12, $6 to add chicken, he also had to pay $2.50 for a pita. His meal was $20.50 before tax and tip, and it was the size of a side salad! The portion was so small for the most basic salad I wanted to bring it back. The flavors were good, but I just would not eat here again because we all finished our food and were still hungry. We are so disappointed because we wanted a good Mediterranean place to go to.

Sonny's Mediterranean was a must-try for me, especially after spending the last month living in Tel Aviv. However, the food didn't quite meet my expectations. The creamy hummus and fresh veggies were on point, but the rest lacked spark. Schloss's aim for a casual atmosphere is clear, but with his experiences at Safta, the food should reflect this culinary acumen. The falafel, for instance, should be soft and lightly crusted, not hard. A review of the frying technique and more frequent oil changes could prevent flavor disruption. The fries needed more crunch, and the Israeli salad could benefit from some spice experimentation. Despite this, the top-notch service and fair food make it a place worth checking out. As they've just opened, there's potential for growth to create a truly memorable experience, especially for those seeking a taste of the Mediterranean.

The warm and welcoming ambiance, coupled with the aromatic symphony of spices, immediately set the stage for a remarkable dining journey.

Now, let's talk about the food – the true star of the show at Sonny's. The pita sandwiches they serve are nothing short of a masterpiece. Bursting with flavor and meticulously crafted, each bite was a tantalizing medley of textures and tastes that danced on my palate. WOW! What a find! Happened to pop in on their opening night and my wife and i were blown away! We LOVE Safta, so we had high expectations knowing that Chef David came from there - and he did NOT disappoint! The harissa hummus is beautifully flavored but not too spicy, and OMG is it insanely smooth - it absolutely Rivals what he would make at Safta. We had the Rotisserie chicken with a side of Zhoug sauce ... it's a must try! The chicken is bomb. So tender and flavorful. Zhoug sauce? Its green, it is PACKED with flavor and some heat and makes a great addition to anything on the menu... I'll be ordering it every time we visit! The Mezze platter was a great wat to try all of the sides which were top notch. The beet salad was almost creamy, the orzo salad packed SO much flavor, The Baba ganoush was SSSOOO good, too! Everything rocked our palettes in the best ways possible and we cannot wait to come back. Make sure you try a Mediterranean mule when you go - they do have beer, wine and a full liquor license! Prices? I also wanted to mention the staff! The assistant manager made our beverages... he was also SO sweet when our kiddo was upset. On their opening night he took the time to get down on her level and try to make her laugh! Lena at the front counter was so nice and personable as well - all of the staff were helpful, smiley and on top of it! Even Chef David was on top of it - he was working the line all night, rushing back and forth to take care of everything back of the house. Even while doing all of that on opening night, when I went up to ask someone at the front counter for a take out container lid, I saw Chef finding what I had asked someone else for and giving it to her. In the midst of all that was going on, he was even paying attention to the guests at the counter. I see you Chef! KEEP IT UP! I have nothing to complain about, it was AMAZING. JUST GO. Welcome to the neighborhood, I can't wait to have more of this...
