DON'T ORDER ONLINE FROM THAI PAN'S WEBSITE!!!! The food is good, and hopefully this review won't impact their business, but I wanted to warn customers so they don't get ripped off like I did. Last night I ordered through Thai Pan's website. Then I got a text saying, "Your Dasher is nearby but having a hard time finding your address. Try calling or texting them."
I called several times, but the phone rang once and then the call ended. I texted the number they gave me, but the only response was "Hi, this is DoorDash connecting you to your Dasher for updates about your order," and then I didn't hear anything. Then I got a text saying that the driver confirmed that the order was handed to me. I never received the order. I was looking around outside, I put my address in correctly, and there's only one unit in my complex with my unit number.
I contacted DoorDash to ask for a refund, but they said that the order was placed through Beyond Menu and that I needed to contact them. I called Beyond Menu, and they said that they needed to talk to DoorDash to put in a "request for a refund."
I'm not trying to be a Karen, but it was really frustrating!!!!
All this being said, I ate at this restaurant earlier this week, and the food was good, the server was very kind and attentive, and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere.
So go into Thai Pan - don't order through...
Read moreThai Pan has been a favorite for a long time, and I've always enjoyed her cooking. On Thanksgiving we thought we'd try something different, but we called around and discovered that every other Thai restaurant in town was closed - so we went to Thai Pan. As usual, our leisurely meal was delicious, with generous portions, full of flavor, and no MSG headache afterward.
Because they were the only place open, they were mobbed. Besides every table being filled, there were 10 or 15 people including 5 or 6 Grubhub delivery people waiting for takeout food, with the phone ringing every 2 minutes. We were sitting by the cash register, so we took the role of explaining why things were taking so long, and that it was worth the wait.
The lady who runs the place was working harder than anyone I've ever seen - cooking, taking orders, folding napkin/silverware sets, answering the phone, and her main helper had to leave right in the middle of everything - but even in her frantic efforts to feed the Thai hunger of the entire city, the food was consistently superb.
After that experience, I like the place even more, because I know that she personally oversees every plate of food, and really puts her heart into it, no matter what the obstacles. We left a huge tip, and we'll...
Read moreI really can't comment on -- and don't particularly care -- whether Thai Pan is "authentic" in any sense of the word. What I can say is that the food is consistently wonderful. My wife and I have made multiple visits over the past year and each time we've been impressed. In fact, after having sampled a few options closer to home we've decided to make the drive every time we want a warm, balanced curry.
The particular balance of sweet to hot to sour lands perfectly, though when I'm looking for an absolute kick in the face hot I'd go elsewhere. The flavors stay delicate and blend perfectly with herbal tones in every curry we've sampled.
Portions are entirely adequate; we usually take leftovers home. Price is right in line as well.
The one thing I'd caution: the dining room is very small. The best time to go seems to be off-peak hours; go between lunch and dinner for the best experience. Takeout is, of course, a great option, and it's not unusual to see drivers in and out in a constant flow while you eat.
Give it a shot. Again, if you're looking for that legendary Thai heat you might want to go elsewhere, but if you're looking for a well-balanced set of flavors in a warm, cozy environment, this might well...
