This restaurant is trying hard to be quaint and trendy, but the lackluster menu and poor quality breakfast does not stand up to other restaurants.

The decor and atmosphere was almost cute, but ultimately look poorly contrived. Poorly made craft decor often sat atop low-quality antique furniture. Plastic flowers in previously-drunk cans of sand-filled orange soda were on top of all tables, with our table being especially wobbly. More dilapidated antique furniture included the bathroom door with a hole in it that was covered with tape, and a barely functional bathroom sink. I also saw craft spiders made out of pipe-cleaners adorning the walls, making me wonder if any of the servers double as a kindergarten teacher.

As far as the food goes, the lunch menu looked pretty barren and uninteresting, so I stuck with breakfast. For brunch, I'd have to say this was maybe the worst I've had in denver, but given that denver has plenty of great brunch spots, that's not as bad as it sounds. The ingredients were fresh, the portion sizes small. My poached eggs weren't disgusting, but I was pretty let down that the yolk had hardened enough to prevent itself from running. The ham was just okay.

The service was fine. In fact, it was probably the best part of this restaurant. The staff was courteous, friendly and alert. Someone from the back brought our food out, and had great soft-skills for a back-of-the-house employee.

I would be willing to give it another shot the next time I'm in the area, but I definitely do not see myself going out of the way for this place. I'm giving 3 stars because this review was based on a single visit, and the food may have just been off. I'm not a fan of the poorly-implemented decor, but I'm sure some people would like a more old-time homey feel,...

I'm writing about going to Devil's Food restaurant in particular.

I was able to go with my girlfriend (at the time), with my mom as well as my friend who I've known for 12 years...

Devil's Food restaurant has many food choices from which to choose from. I believe that I ordered their French Toast with a side order of potatoes. Very good choice of food for you me to have picked from their menu.

(If you're looking for more to do with your day, Devil's Food is located very near Wash Park, which could take up an entire day, when you include walking/bicyling/jogging/general-sight-seeing around Wash Park.)

There's also the Wash Park Grille in walking distance from Wash Park. There's a schmancy mountain bike shop across the street from Devil's Food Market.

The Wash Park grounds hold several ponds in the full territory of the park.

On the south edge of the Wash Park territory, lies South High School. I don't know anyone who went to South High School, but I have heard that South High School is haunted (this is a rumor that I've heard in all of the years that I've lived in Denver). :(

That's about all that I can remember about going to Devil's Food Market. If you're looking for an interesting place to visit for brunch, I recommend going to Devil's...

Another one of those places I have merely existed near on a daily basis but never tried.

Menu looks good, very breakfast heavy (they’re open 11-3) with a few options for lunch. Menu items include your standard breakfast fare with a southern twist (see: cornbread waffles, biscuits and gravy, shrimp and grits) as well as a pork green chili dish.

Ordered the Cuban panini with potato salad to go as well as an entree of mac and cheese. Panini was okay, very greasy and not crisp. Fully expected the potato salad to be an abomination and it actually wasn’t bad. The dressing was a little runny but otherwise tasty. I never order potato salad and I never eat potato salad that isn’t mine or my grandmothers if that tells you anything. Mac and cheese I had high hopes for, and boy did it underwhelm. Bland, flavorless, colorless, boring. Shame. Tastes like pasta water and cardboard. Fettuccine sauce you’d expect from the Italian version of the old casa Bonita. Ick.

Will try again only for the shrimp and grits which will be the true test of their culinary ability in my book. Place is cute, service was eh. Sister company to devils food and it appears that overpriced, inconsistent food is the name of the...

Great atmosphere, service and quick to seat you! Dish highlights: Benedict’s, Myrtle hash and beef bourguignon. However, I ordered a tuna melt open face sandwich that was lackluster overall. The taste was hampered by the portioning (a mound on one toast) and conflicting temperatures (warm cheese and cold tuna). I have never had cold tuna on a melt before and it was very messy - you can’t eat it with both hands like the other sandwich options. My favorite melt comes by way of coffee shop Tryst in D.C. which serves this dish on two pieces of toast, halved in triangles, topped with smaller portions of toasted/warm tuna and white cheddar (4 small portions). My suggestion would be to adjust this dish because it was a sore thumb compared to other dishes at The Cookery.

We snagged bar seats to avoid a table wait, & it turned out to be the perfect decision. The atmosphere was laid-back and ideal for a cozy meal w/ no screens for distraction. Our server, Corey, was fantastic—so kind and attentive.🍴 The chicken and belgium waffles were a standout—smothered in gravy and absolutely delicious—and their homemade honey biscuits were out of this world. Definitely worth a visit! I’ve been on a mission to find an orange mocha in Denver, and while they didn’t have one, Corey generously let me take a mocha to-go just because! Such a sweet and unexpected gesture. ☕️ Every detail, from the thoughtful mocha gesture to the mouthwatering homemade honey biscuits, made this experience truly special. ❤️ - This place is added to the Favorites.

Good restaurant in a shopping block surrounded by an older neighborhood. Often busy especially for breakfast. The Florentine benedict was good. It comes on challah with a nice hollandaise. The poached on the eggs was right. The accompanying potatoes were well seasoned and good. The coffee leaves something to be desired to me. Service was good - both fast and professional. They did not seem to have Wi-Fi. The space is older, but comfortable and interesting. It can sometimes be loud when there are younger children. There is some on street parking which is fine if you're early but can fill up fast.
