I'm sure the food is probably good. But the price is too high. Cheapest bowl with meat is 16 dollars before tax. Don't know if i should blame Joe biden. Or all the renovations this place made to the spot. How about 12 and 13 and 16 should be highest. That's ALMOST reasonable for a rice bowl with meat. Also serving dishes are plastic bowls....practically 20 dollar rice bowl served in a plastic throw away dish.
Edit: (replying to owner) you are not entitled to control public opinion. I am not doing anything to your small business. My review will not be the reason for success or failure. Your decisions will do that. If more people think its worth the price than so be it. But that is not my opinion.
Little ginko provide similar food (rice with meat) and their most expensive dish is 16.95. Plus they serve their food on real dishware. Local has tacos with just as much meat as your bowls at 4.50 snarfburger offers a burger at a good price too.
I live close by and wanted to eat her. And literally had to walk out becasue I couldn't afford it. That's embarrassing. So yes I've been there and had a negative experience due to pricing. I will eventually splurge to try the food. But I can garuntee I won't think it worth the money. And I'm not only with this opinion. Notice that the less than 5 star reviews mention price. And if you're struggling to bring in customers. Bringing down price is always a helpful tool. I know restraunts are tough margins. I wish you success, but I must be honest. And the price is...
Read moreThe owner welcomes you into Toro with a smile. If you’ve been there more than twice, chances are he will remember your name. The first thing I noticed, after the warm greeting, is how unbelievably clean the store is.
The menu has many choices— options for the vegan, carnivore, or pescatarian. Everything is made fresh and can be as a burrito, bowl, or salad.
I prefer chicken, so the first time I went in, tried the Bird Rock and was pleasantly surprised by the texture of the rice and how the seasoning of the chicken mixed perfectly with the unexpected blend of vegetables.
For my second visit I went more traditional with the Standard Issue. Again, I came away from that lunch completely satisfied with the amount of food and freshness of the ingredients. I expect to explore more into the Vegan and other Carnivore options soon. The selections are simply too interesting for this foodie to pass up.
Toro also has catering on the menu. The said they’ve done events up to 60 so far, but I have a feeling they’ll soon be doing larger ones. The food is too good to not consider if you plan to...
Read moreI don’t normally write reviews, good or bad, unless it feels warranted. My visit to Toro today has earned them a 5 star review. Toro is a great addition to the Cap Hill neighborhood. Locally sourced ingredients, diverse menu flavors, excellently crafted flavor profiles, vegan & vegetarian options.
I ordered the Bombay and got it as a bowl. I was very pleased with the flavors. The potatoes were so good. The mango chutney was delicious. I was happy with the portion size, great for a nicely filling lunch. Everything tasted hot, fresh and made with care.
My friends ordered the “Standard” and the “San Juan”, both as bowls. I can’t speak for how they tasted, as I don’t eat meat, but they looked delicious and my friends said they were both super good.
The staff were friendly and professional. The restaurant was clean and organized. They did some great work to refresh this old “Sexy Pizza” location.
To top it off, the owner gave our group a taster of their Zepolle. (Small Italian style donut holes.) They were seriously tasty and made this trip “super sweet”.
Will be...
