I booked my daughter’s wedding reception here for we are familiar with the food & service that normally comes with Ruth & Chris restaurants. This was a destination wedding & I felt at least planning the reception here would make it perfect. I worked with Michael on all the details, he was fabulous and attentive, can’t say enough positive about him , but unfortunately the head server John that was assigned to our party completely ruined the entire experience with his ignorance. Soon as he walked in he says so what’s your story, I don’t know it (as if they needed to explain anything to a stranger/server) my daughter responded it’s been a long time coming we have been together 8 yrs, John looks at my new son in law & states did you think you was going to do better? Then says mom you never told her the story of the cow when you give the milk away for free? I was completely shocked, appalled & disgusted. I should have gotten management immediately but did not want to ruin my daughter’s reception over this ignorant individual & made sure another server overheard me telling guests how inappropriate his comments were. My husband & I were not even asked what we would like to drink , and after talking to all our guests not everyone was asked what they would like either but they definitely charged me for each person. Also ordered 4 bottles of wine & after talking to guests no one remembers him even bringing in the 4th bottle. John comes In again & looks at my cousin ( her baby had fallen asleep on her chest ) and says boy I sure would like to be that baby sleeping there, are you kidding me ! Making sexual comments to guests of a wedding reception should never be acceptable! The last straw was him bursting into room when I was giving speech to my daughter & son in law. He was shushed immediately and left immediately but his actions and comments completely ruined this experience & I paid top dollar to be insulted & interrupted. Completely ridiculous! I did speak with the manager Mr.Shook after I completed the review and he seemed genuinely mortified that this happened at his restaurant ( stated we would receive gift cards, 2 weeks after now & still have not received anything) stated John would be at the least having some time off. Since I never received anything I highly doubt anything was ever done for his ignorance to our party. It has changed the way I look at Ruth Chris restaurants now & will never step foot in the Destin Fl location ever again! Book some where else if you want good memories & respectable service. You will not find it at...
Read moreMy husband and I enjoy fine dining and we are new to Ruth's Chris's steakhouses and we thought we would give it a try on our date night. We made reservations online, which were accustomed to. We showed up a little early because we wanted to enjoy drinks at the bar. (Which the hostesses kindly corrected me on my reservation time 5:30 vs 5:45) Immediately, the atmosphere was relaxing and romantic, which we enjoyed and set the mood. We were walked to our table and were introduced to the specials for the night.
The round booths are esthetically pleasing. However, they are the most uncomfortable things. I don't know maybe if it's just because my husband and I are older (40's) but our backs were killing us by the time dinner was done. Portion sizes for us were good but pricey. We ordered the Tbone steak with baked potato and we started with the shrimp cocktail. They were delicious and wonderfully large. The steak however, we ordered medium rare and it definitely came out rare it was cool in the middle instead of the nice warm. We asked for it to go box and we would just take it home. We had to ask 2 or 3 times we were never provided one. So, by the end of the night we gave up on that. Also, I guess because of the angle of the candle lit table, I notice that there was lipstick on my bar glass. I ordered the cucumber Collins (super sweet!!) And sipped on it so I had more than half of my drink left so I brought it to their attention. I used the straw and I do not wear lipstick. They didn't address it with me, they just ordered a new cocktail. Which at this time we were done with our dinner and I didn't want another cocktail. It was disappointing that they didn't address it and just assumed I wanted another cocktail.
Where our table was located we had perfect view of the waiter station and the whole night they did nothing but complain about customers it was very disappointing. I tried to disregard so that we could enjoy our night but it was hard to not notice all of the rude comments and faces and gestures that they made toward customers requests.
Not sure we could go back. I could see this being a great place for those that don't enjoy fine dinning often and want the experience. Those that do, don't go expecting it, just go for the food.
I should close with saying, I can over look all the above mentioned things. But the staffs attitude and disgust they showed (for what I am guessing they thought was private) toward the customers was appalling. This made the...
Read moreMy family and I recently visited this establishment with some friends while on vacation. This was only my second visit to a Ruth’s Chris and sadly, not the best. Our first visit was in North Dallas, and was outstanding. Both the food and the service were fantastic. This time however, the food was good, but both our waiter and the location we were seated left very much to be desired.
To start with, despite having reservations we were made to wait until our whole group arrived.
I don’t know if he was having a bad day, but our waiter was rather unpleasant and discourteous. He walked away from the table before we even finished ordering. At one point, while my friend took his son to the restroom, he passed by the kitchen and overheard our waiter cussing up a storm. Very unprofessional. He mentioned it to the manager, and afterward his temperament improved somewhat. When he asked where we were from, the conversation turned toward sports teams. My friends being from Los Angeles are naturally fans of the Rams. The waiter then accused them of being “band wagoners”, and then proceeded to tell my friends 13-year-old son why the patriots are the best team ever and we are wrong for thinking any different.
As for our seating arrangements, we were placed at a large round table at the very back of the restaurant, that stuck out into the path of travel for the waiters and customers. We were constantly having to lean forward so that people could squeeze passed us. We finally got fed up and scooched around so that we were all on one side of the table. This also seemed to irritate the waiter. After being served our entrees we were never asked how things were, how we were doing, or if we needed another drink.
All of these things are perhaps something you would overlook if you were eating at someplace like Chili’s. But when you spend nearly $1000 on dinner, you tend expect much better service. Believe me, if the gratuity were not already included on the bill, he would not have gotten one.
The only reason I’m giving two stars is because the food was good, but that’s about the only good thing I can say. Good, not great. Honestly, I can make a better steak and it doesn’t cost me $100 a plate. Very disappointed...
