The Palms Coffeehouse — Restaurant in Destin

It was a wednesday morning and started like every normal day, I walk into the palms coffee house getting my usual. I get greeted at the coffee bar by an employee named Alanna, I give her my order and we start a little convo and share a few laughs. I excuse myself to use the restroom, while using the rest room I dont wipe good enough and come out of the bathroom with a long roll of toliet paper on my shoe and visiable skid stains. All of the customers laugh and me. I bow my head and start heading towards the exit. Then that employee Alanna steps up and defends me. She states "hey guys mistakes happen and people have accidents. I bet everyone in here has had a situation like this. You guys wouldnt want people to react like this if this had happened to you." The group of customers look at each other and all agree. We all realize we arent perfect and have a group hug even with toliet paper still connected to my foot and an unwiped bottom. That day I felt like I was saved from a world of embarresment by that employee and realize there still is hope in the world. If I could rate this place a 20/10 I would. I came in with a group of 11 people just before 11 AM and we doubled the capacity of the cafe, so not many people there. Our server took our drink order and 15 minutes later we finally had drinks. Another 10 min goes by and the server takes our food order. Exactly 1 hour later we finally had our food. (Remember, there’s only 20 people total in the entire cafe). I ordered the Pastrami Mommy sandwich and what I got wasn’t good enough to feed to my dogs. It had 1 1/2 slices of prosciutto on it vs the pastrami listed on the menu. Less than 1 oz of meet on a Kaiser roll. After sending the meal back to the kitchen for correction they simply removed the prosciutto and added two slices of pastrami….so now I have 2 oz of meat on a giant roll. My 5 year old could make a more appealing sandwich. Mine wasn’t the only meal with issues. My friend had a smash burger sandwich in which the beef looked and tasted like it had been made last week. Overall very poor service, very SLOW service, and food quality was wholly unsatisfactory for the prices they charge. Will not be eating...

We have been here several times and found it to be really good. It is located in the lobby of The Palms Resort but it is open to the public. They have a variety of breakfast and lunch sandwiches as well as various pastries. i have tried several of those and found all to be excellent. Every time I go i get met with a smile and pleasant conversation. And last but not least, there is a true barista trained by Dutch Brothers, our favorite west coast coffee chain. If you are nearby or staying at The Palms you should really try The Palms Coffeehouse.

2022 edit. Everything we experienced here is the same as last year...including our favorite and friendly barista Liz...But its better. Before they had a small walk up located outside the restaraunt but now they remodeled and turned one of their bars into a true coffee house with comfortable chairs and sofas.
