Even though it's first, this first paragraph was written last. Rewriting during my proofread, may have created an even more confusing review. While proofreading the following I noticed that only the first line is about Whataburger, which is a great place, and I recommend the Honey BBQ Chicken Strip sandwich. After the next half sentence, I complain about another burger joint, and the fact that restaurants seem to favor drive-thru customers. In other words, I ramble. The service at, "Whataburger," is always prompt, and friendly, unlike people behind the counters at some of the other hamburger joints, who say things like, "I'll be with you in just a minute sir," while they help prepare orders for people in the drive-thru. (By the way, why do people get in line at a drive-thru, when there isn't anyone at the counter, inside the restaurant?) I would like to know who decided it made good business sense to give drive-thru customers preferential treatment over customers who make the effort to get out of their cars and walk into the restaurant? Years ago I heard a manager say that it's because people in the drive-through are obviously in a much bigger hurry than people who get out of their cars and come into the restaurant. I didn't realize it then, but life experience has taught me that that statement was quite ignorant. Only an idiot will get in line at a drive-thru, if the inside of the restaurant is practically empty. I say that based on how things are supposed to be done, which is not leave a single customer standing after counter for 5 minutes plus. Maybe they're thinking that the more people they can make happy in a short time the better it is for business, but when someone is in a line with people in front of them, they understand why they have to wait, but a guy like me inside the restaurant by himself at the counter, is standing there thinking,"I've been standing here at the counter for 5 minutes, and I've heard the drive-thru guy say at least five times, "welcome to... may I take your order?" There's another reason not to favor the drive-thru so much. People inside the restaurant waiting at the counter can hear the people ordering at the drive-thru, but people in the drive-thru can't hear people inside the...
Read moreGiving a 3, not because of the food, because of the actions of the manager. I walked in and was met by a sweet elder lady giving me a genuine smile and asking how I was doing. After I ordered she asked if I was getting their onion rings :they are wonderful " she boasted . No ma'am, wasn't aware they were available, she said "well let see if they will swap your fries for the onion rings. Told her she didn't have to but, she insisted. Next I hear the manager scolding her about giving away the onion rings "they cost more, you have to stop this". Loud enough I could hear her and in front of ALL the employees on the floor. I expressed it wasn't a big deal, I was good with the fries. The manager stated "it wasn't just me" I replied "it was at this point and with all due respect that was uncalled for" and that she needed to get a refresher course in management 101 ALWAYS PRAISE IN PUBLIC AND DISCIPLINE IN PRIVATE!!!!!! I felt bad for that sweet women, thought she was gonna cry. She held it together and began to tell me her late father owned 9 Burger Kings before he passed, she was just wanting something to occupy her time. God bless her for having to deal with an incompetent manager that has no clue about "customer service" . I can only hope that the regional managers read these reviews, I will not be visiting the Destin whataburger...
Read moreWe went here to see what all the hype was about. First we waited in the drive-thru line for over 40 minutes but we didn't mind that because it was late and there weren't many options available. Plus we are out of town and wanted to try the food.. We finally get to order and my brother ordered his wife a #1 plain with cheese. We pay and receive our food and her burger is just meat and bread only no cheese. So he says ma'am this doesn't have the cheese on it. Another lady comes up and pushes the lady handing the food out the way and yells I AM THE ONE WHO TOOK YOUR ORDER AND IF YOU WOULD HAVE ORDERED CHEESE THEN CHEESE WOULD HAVE BEEN ON IT. By then we are shocked and confused. He then says ma'am I did order cheese I even double checked with you over the speaker to make sure. She then yells DUDE LIKE I SAID IF YOU WOULD HAVE SAID CHEESE THEN I WOULD HAVE PUT CHEESE! He then says I did say cheese and its just a mistake that can be easily fixed. She cuts him off and yells DO YOU WANT THE CHEESE OR NOT!? I then told my brother with her being so upset and hostile I was afraid of what she might do to the cheese so don't get it. I then tell her no ma'am we don't want it since you are so upset. Before I could finish my sentence she slams the drive-thru door in our faces and walks off mouthing! What a terrible experience for such...
