Athens Souvlaki Downtown — Restaurant in Detroit

Terrible terrible service...the food is a “C” grade. The waitress banged and shoved my food items on the table, gabbed with the other waitresses while I was trying to get her attention for some time, told me what was for dessert while walking away with her back to me...and could have been more polite. I waited for my check that didn’t come...went to the cashier who was picking her nails while I was standing in front of her ( with no one else around ) — I even said “ Hello” with her not even looking up at me. She answers the phone after totally ignoring me —so I went to the Ladies room to wash my hands. Someone bangs in the door...and a male employee comes in and said “ Sorry—we just wanted to make sure you didn’t skip out on us” My waitress said “ we thought you left...here’s your check. Then says a fib and says your check was on the table. How degrading and disrespectful. No ...only my drink glass was on the table. She just ripped my check off her check pad right in front of me. The lettuce in the salad was old and browning. The Gyro was “ok”. If I could give this restaurant “no stars” or zero rating—I would! I will NEVER go to this...

We were in Detroit for the 2022 NCAA D1 Wrestling Championships and wanted to eat the local cuisine. Athens Souvlaki Detroit should be voted the BEST GREEK RESTAURANT in Detroit!! The gyro sandwich was so mild and tender, the Greek salad was perfectly seasoned, and the white bean soup was melt-in-your-mouth good! One waitress took care of the entire restaurant, and she was working so hard, she tripped on the rug and fell! Our table busser work quickly and efficiently on his first day at the job! I told the owners what great employees they had and left our waitress a $20 tip! I was however very disappointed that the 2 times we went back to eat there, the restaurant was closed! Want quick a quick bite for lunch with some healthy Mediterranean options with great flavor. This is a great place!

•Atmosphere• This restaurant was very clean, had plenty of seating, and was a nice place to either sit down or carryout for lunch.

•Service• The service was fantastic! The server gave a warm greeting and knew my order by name when I walked in. Best of all my order was accurate and packed with attention to detail. Love the online ordering option!

•Food• The food came out hot, fresh, and was very tasty! Love that chicken breast which was definitely marinated, tender, and cooked perfectly! Portions are great for the price.
