Room 1904, Detroit I had high expectations walking into Room 1904 — the space itself immediately impresses with its great speakeasy vibes, dim lighting, vintage decor, and an atmosphere that feels like it could transport you back in time. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended. Despite there being no waiting line, it took over 10 minutes just to be seated, which set the tone for the rest of the visit. Once seated, we sat for another 10 minutes before anyone even approached the table to take a drink order. When the waitress finally arrived, the only water option offered was “bottled water service,” which turned out to be nothing more than a plastic bottle of Perrier — the same kind you’d find at a gas station. After placing our drink order, we waited another 20 minutes with no sign of the drinks arriving. At that point, we decided to cancel the order and leave. What made the experience worse was that the staff seemed completely indifferent — no apology, no effort to fix the situation, not even a hint of concern that we were walking out. For a place with such a cool concept and ambiance, the service was shockingly poor and the staff attitude made it even worse. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. Overall: Great atmosphere, but terrible service. I wouldn’t recommend Room 1904 to anyone looking for a quality dining or cocktail...
Read moreWe visited the “spookeasy” and honestly was extremely underwhelmed by what I think we were expecting but that’s ok. It was still very cute and had a nice decor. We loved the menus. I think the cocktails were decently priced - we got the spirits vision which all I could taste was the edible glitter.. (I make edibles and have used this in the past so I’m familiar)
But to be honest, I was actually disappointed in the service the two girls working the bar were so rude and not welcoming that we had a two hour reservation that we actually left after one drink. I work in hospitality and can honestly say I’ve never felt more unwelcome into an establishment in my life. I think for that the place was, like a welcoming and friendly server is what truly makes the experience. I would not come back nor would I recommend it to anyone either. I was super upset, I know this is irrelevant to most, but I just had a baby and this was my first time out in a long time & im not sure when that will happen again but overall the...
Read moreThe space is really cute! I’m a huge fan of speakeasy’s and the little door to get in is a fun start to the night. The drinks are a little pricier $24-$25 for most drinks on their menu. I’d highly suggest asking your waiter what certain drinks taste like before you order. I ordered one and didn’t like it, and when the came to take it away; she informed me that most people aren’t too fond of this drink. However, I had one of the best lemon drops I’ve had here at Room 1904. It was so good, I ordered a second one; then another one so my friend could try it. The service is the only thing I’ll complain about. Once our server took our order, the only other time she came around was to drop the drinks off. We had to go to the bar to order another drink; and even then it was a different woman who brought us the rest...
