Zeff's Coney Island in Eastern Market — Restaurant in Detroit

I use to like Zeff's until today, I've given them more than one chance. The slim woman who they allow to run the place has a very very nasty attitude she's rude, disrespectful, and racist. I asked for potatoes and chicken flats to go.The heavy set cook with the blonde hair burnt my potatoes to a crisp to the point that when I got in my car I could smell the potatoes through the bag and to my surprise every potato was burnt. When I returned the food they became angry with me, got really indignant. They showed no care or concern the cook got smart too. I believe they are racist. I wish I had taken a picture of the food and recorded their behavior it was disgusting how I was treated and I have been a regular customer. The woman who runs the place is always rude and should be removed and so should the cook. To the owner if you care about your customers you would view the cameras and remove them they were pitiful and performed in front of other patrons. I'll never return or reccomend this place to...

We went into this place for breakfast and it was delicious! It is a family-owned business and the people are wonderful to talk to. Makes you feel like you're at home. However there was one disappointment that I seen while I was there. A young man came in with very expensive shoes and clothing on he had called in an order and when he came to pick it up he said he only had $6 and some odd cents. The woman behind the register stood up for herself and because she doesn't want food wasted so she gave it to him for the $6 that he had and warned him that she remembers his face and he will not try to scam her again. It is so sad what people do in the city here. These are people that stayed open all through this pandemic and have received no help from the government. Been coming here for years. Used to be our go to breakfast when staying downtown. It used to be five star but last visit was a 3 at most.

Four of us went for breakfast Sunday morning about a dozen people in the restuarant including us. Our waitress could not get off of her phone! Had to keep bugging other waitstaff for coffee, jam etc. Told her in the beginning two checks (one for each couple), she said no problem. Dropped off the ticket to the cooks and went right back to texting or whatever on her phone. Order came wrong, checks not split up (just tell them what you had) etc, and right back to her phone!

Food went down due to the waitress not conveying the order correctly I am sure. Thankfully the rest of the waitstaff was great and took care of what we needed. We just ate the food as it came, as we wanted to get out of there.
