i did not very much enjoy the food, but i am rating 5 stars anyways for these reasons as follows: from the strip mall location, sparsely decorated entry way, the chandelier on the cheap school ceiling, fake flowers and classic paper chinese zodiac placemats on the tables, and the music playing so softly it's almost silent inside save for the clink of forks and plates from the four or so tables in for lunch (forks, not chopsticks, provided) and friendly kitchen chatter just out of earshot, this place sends me directly back to 8-year-old nostalgia, when my father would take me to places like this on days together, back in texas, when life was easy and simple. prompt help, choice of seat. lunch specials (many to chose from) come with pork fried rice, (which i asked to not be included so to my dietary preferences (god-related) so i cannot rate this dish), a choice of soup, wonton chips with sweet-and-sour dip, and a pot of hot tea. the water arrives in a goblet. perhaps i should have studied the menu longer, but my choices were as such: very goopy and gelatinous and disturbingly tasteless beef chow mein (i attempted to sprinkle some pepper in hopes of helping the poor thing out, but way too much came out of the shaker and it was pepper chow mein from then on), and egg drop soup that was ok but still very bland. i dipped my wonton chips into a combination of the soup and sauce which i liked the best out of everything. i really liked the tea. point is, this amount of food is simply worth the $
Read moreWe ordered 120$ worth of Chinese food for New Year's Eve based on a recommendation from someone else, so we were very excited to try it! New food on a holiday is not usually a great idea, and this was not an exception. Mistakes were made. Lessons were learned. Hard lessons. This is was hands down the worst pork fried rice I've ever ever had in my life. It was disgusting- the pork was mushy and the overall flavor was salt. I was absolutely most disappointed by the rice. The Singapore Mei Fun was missing the requested meat (chicken) and ended up being only noodles. The seasoning wasn't bad, but definitely seemed "less" seasoned than expected. The chicken and broccoli (w/ brown sauce) was watery and salty. The sweet and sour chicken was doughy and not fried crispy. The outside was soggy and parts were still white in color. the kung pow chicken was also watery and tasted like salt. No other flavors were noticable.
To say this was a disappointment is an understatement, considering we were feeding guests as well. I called to let the staff know and the woman told me no one else complained so it was not an issue she was willing to address.
If you're looking for good Chinese, stick to what you know. I'll go back to China...

Unfortunately, the food leaves a lot to be desired.
Dumplings had a good amount of filling, but the meat was bland and the dumpling wrapper was annoyingly way, way too thick.
The mei fun was cooked perfectly. The pork was a standout, texture-wise, but the dish had minimal-to-no seasoning, and there was no flavor to speak of.
Fried rice was WHITE, almost as though everything was thrown together with no seasonings, oil or soy sauce or anything. In addition to being bland, there were large, hard chunks of salt or msg throughout the dish that made it inedible after the second one got crushed between my teeth.
Wonton soup was excessively watered down with minimal flavor, and there was a Lima bean-sized piece of meat in the center of the wonton wrapper.
The wings were pretty good with a great crispiness to them, but they also suffered from being painfully...
