Dillon Dam Brewery. Good brewery serves bar food
The moment I stepped foot in the door I was yelled at by the rude discourteous hostes. Let's face it, we've been living with covid-19 for over a year now. I, for one understand and respect the legal requirements that a restaurant must follow. By this point however, a hostess should have developed a nicer, more tactful way of asking people to wait instead of yelling at them to "get out." If my friend hadn't been dead set on eating there, I would have unleashed some vulgarities and then left for good. The host escalated the situation by botching our reservation. We were given a buzzer but our names were not written down in the book, costing us our time and table. One high point if there is one, to waiting outside were the delightful tabletop fireplaces. When finally called in, we were greeted with a dirty table that the hostess quickly wiped down and apologized for. It was interesting to see airport style carpet within the dining area. Overall the decor was nice, we enjoyed the music that they played. We decided to order an array of appetizers as the menu descriptions sounded better than the entrees. The seafood chowder had a good taste and contained quality ingredients. However, it was destroyed by the very amateur overuse of flour creating a paste-like consistency. The lager BEER cheese dip was a complete disappointment. Once again flour, which IS a necessary ingredient in a dip such as this was unfortunately excessively overused. It tasted of flour with hints of cheese and beer and had a very thick grainy consistency. Plus, the very cheap Restaurant Depot-style tortilla chips completely ruin the presentation. The sausage and pretzel skewers sounded amazing on the menu. The presentation was excellent, the sausage tasty but salty, the pretzel bites were stylish looking and did not disappoint. I'm pretty sure that the lingonberry sauce was ikea and that mustard was Gulden's. The onion rings were thick, beer battered and delicious. Southwest ranch sauce was a perfect compliment. Highlight of the evening was the DAM beef stew poutine. Big points for the creative twist and great prevention. Despite being a little on the salty side, we were...
Read moreWent in, after reserving a spot in the waiting line que, only line, for an hr & a half, only to find my group of 6 had to wait another 20 min & was told by the hostess that we should have been told that we have an hr & a half wait. Made NO sense! Got seated, ordered 2 of the Bavarian pretzels only to get served cold pretzels. After ordering our dinner, all the meals except 1 came out, which was explained that the kitchen staff threw away the order tickets & I had to remind the waitress what my order was so she could “ try to find it”. My wife’s crock of onion soup came out cold, the waitress was told, she took the crock to “go have the kitchen make another bowl” & my wife never received the soup for her dinner, it was just forgotten. Once we told the waitress to take it off the bill she realized it was never served. Towards the end of our meal, a complacent what seemed to be manager, never introduced himself, walked up & asked how our meal was & I explained our experiences. His response was “well we were pretty busy tonight so…” and he grabbed plates & moved on. We all were like what the?? I figured the guy was either the owner or in the ownership family & couldn’t care less. He came back to the table a few moments later with a $25 gift cert & said “this is for next time you come back, if you dare or give it to a friend”. Say WHAT?!?! I’m here on vacation & wont be coming back. So I used it on my $98 4 meal tab. 2 of the 4 orders of 9 wings alone was $45, YEP $45!! Nuts!! The perception here is they have you in a somewhat isolated locale & they’re very busy so if they screw up an order or 2, oh well. Move on. Too Dam Bad!! The place was busy @ first, but by mid way through our meal it had slowed & being “too busy” was not a viable excuse to screw up the simple issues that they did. Ownership needs to relook @ management, this guy was just complacent as you can get, showed no interest in being there, does not have the right personality for the biz & if U can’t get a simple pretzel or bowl of soup out hot, that speaks volumes on kitchen management. If you’re looking for a cattle call location with cookie cutter micro brew.? This is the place for you. To Dam Bad it was such a poor experience!!!...
Read moreImmediately on being sat down, Valentino, our server, started with attitude. When told we were hoping to split the check, he decided how he wanted it split. He then proceeded to play slap and giggle with the shift manager at the time and pick his nose without cleaning his hands several times. Half of our groups food and appetizers came out a half hour before the rest and when we eventually got our food it was obvious they had left it sitting under a heat lamp for most of that time. My reuben was like biting through straight gristle and the microved cheese on the nachos was basically like cement. I asked to speak to the manager, he did his best to try to make excuses and prevent me from speaking to them. Finally when she came over, she Immediately gave the same attitude he did and when I explained the issue, she rolled her eyes and asked "Well what do you want me to do about it?" She inevitably just took the food we complained about and asked if we wanted to wait again for more. I declined and just asked for the questionable items to be removed from the ticket. As the evening continued, the attitude got worse, they were seemingly ignoring our table. Eventually I spotted the owner and decided to just chat with him about it. Immediately the manager cuts in and says "we all have worked doubles today so we are tired" then claimed she didn't give me attitude like she wasn't actively arguing with me in front of her boss. The owner as well started giving me passive aggressive sass. Reaffirming they were short staffed which at the end of the day will always be the fault of the owner and not the customer. If you're not willing to pay your employees enough to entice a full crew to work for you, maybe you shouldn't be in business?
When we were set to leave, the owner cut me off from my group to just say "Sorry it didn't work out" with a self serving smirk that reeked of an entitled individual who has skated by life on the backs of others.
Needless to say, save your money, go to Snarfs next door. Their sandwiches are at least good.
Update: owner seems quite defensive and should likely have the health department called on his establishment to check on Vals...
