As a Summit local, I really wanted to like this place. But I just can't get into it. They seem to have a lot of sweet treats, which I have not tried, just not my thing really. I think this is what they are good at and should probably stick to. I've been informed that they've been doing the sweets for a long time but just recently added savory sandwiches, bad decision. I've come in for breakfast and lunch sandwiches and been incredibly disappointed by their menu. Whoever makes up the menu clearly has no experience putting flavors together in a dish. Every item on both the breakfast and lunch menus is just not quite right. You go in a stare at the menu for about ten minutes because everything looks almost good, but not quite right. Three eggs on a bagel sandwich!? And you get a choice of sausage OR tomato (because obviously those are equivalent!). All of the breakfast sandwiches are just way too much egg and not enough of anything else. A burrito with, again... 3 eggs, and salsa? Breakfast burritos do not have salsa in them, they have chile sauce and are supposed to be at least moderately spicy. They also have potatoes in them. Who came up with this burrito recipe? It's just plain wrong. The lunch sandwiches are alright I suppose. It's just cold cuts and a couple veggies, I could make the exact same sandwich at home for 1/4 the cost. If I'm going out for lunch I'm not looking for a boring turkey sandwich that I can make just as well myself. I go to a restaurant and pay for food because I want something that I can't or won't make myself. Their sourdough bread also sucks, not sour at all, tastes like white bread. So I would say that I can make a better sandwich at home because I buy nicer bread at the grocery store than they have. Overall just not a great place for sandwiches. The Smiling Moose deli a couple doors down is much better! Even the Subway across the parking lot would be better, at least you get a cheap crappy sandwich for a...
Read moreUnfortunately my experience here was not good. Which is a shame because considering the reviews for this place, It looks like I just came on a bad day. After a weekend of hiking/camping in Gore Canyon, we stopped here to grab a bite. I ordered the BLT which I do not recommend. It consisted of, two sad pieces of not fresh bacon, most likely microwaved or leftover because my sandwich was ready 30 seconds after I ordered it. I would believe it if they told me they ran to Mcdonalds, bought a bacon mcmuffin and took that bacon out to use in my sandwich. The sorry bacon was lazily slapped on two un-toasted wheat bread slices which, considering this place is a bakery, was not unlike basic store bought sliced bread, the budget brands. The thing wasn't even sliced down the middle, it was cut off center. My friends ordered the turkey club which they said they liked, however their sandwiches looked just like my sandwich but with Oscar Mayer turkey slices added. In my opinion you should eat at one of the many other restaurants in the same shopping center like, Nick N Willys, Smiling Moose deli, the Mexican restaurant, or even crappy Mcdonald's would have been a better choice. I'd like to think they just had a bad day, but if you can't even make a basic BLT up to 7-eleven sandwich standards, then there is no...
Read moreI came earlier to get an Italian sub. On the board, the ingredients are clearly ham, salami, and capicola. Once I received my sub, I only found just ham in my sandwich.
I went inside and the two guys at the cashier were extremely nice and asked the staff of the kitchen to add the missing meats. Although there seemed to be a language barrier, the front counter staff was able to communicate with them effectively.
First, the three kitchen employees said that all meats were in my sandwich. Second, they were resistant and trying not to fix my sub, then they made it, but were laughing and kept looking at the window at me in the meantime. Fortunately, I speak Spanish fluently, and I was able to overhear them.
I had impression they were tempering with food. I grabbed my sandwich, but threw it in the garbage.
I nearly went to McDonald’s but wanted something healthier, more organic and tasty. Instead, I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. I should have asked for my money back but I decided to avoid any drama, since the front counter employees were so nice and friendly to me.
I’ve been coming to Blue Moon for several years now, as a local Summit county resident. Sadly, I think today is my last time coming...
